Obviously you've never read the manga, off which Brotherhood was based. The first anime took a completely different turn from the manga after Rush Valley.

Lmao. I remember when I first was introduced to the series FMA i watched Eds death scene and was screaming at the computer like a crazed fangirl. I was so mad! Then I showed it to my best friend. And she looked at envy and screamed "I LIKE THAT ONE!" Ahh the good old days. Now I'm an Envy fangirl and I don't much adore Ed. Though in the last episode of Brotherhood on adult swim i admit i was kinda sad that Ed got impaled by a long poley thing. I felt even worse when they were pullin it out and he was screaming. I gata say Vic Mignogna (Eds voice actor) Is an amazing voice actor. He get really into it

Hohenheim is a surname. The rest of Hoho's name (that comes before the Hohenheim part) is pretty long. Elric was Trisha's name and she has no relation to Envy. I'm just saying, calling him "Elric" makes 0 sense.
Homunculi don't actually have last names at all anyway. They all have just one single name, so adding a surname to "Envy" doesn't make sense to begin with.
