Description 2020

Not the best drawing I can produce, but it's important because it has an actual connection to the Loop plots.

The Loop is not that much of a coherent story - mostly because it was meant to have no end, no moral, no reasoning of what is good and what is evil, nothing that could make a good book. It is more a history.
The Loop has gone through several World Wars at the moment, and Humans/Spiders was the Second one (in most war-counting systems).

Respawning doesn't let the wars go quite as they normally do in our world because all participants can be revived endlessly, and if that wasn't enough - the Machine sometimes miscounts them, which can lead to duplication. The more deaths you have, the more men you will end up having. Any Loop war has to end other ways than wasting all the population on it, otherwise it won't end at all.

The same was with the Spiders/People war.
Initially, the clean had vast territories under their control, not only in the America sector (which still entirely belongs to them), but also partially Australia and almost entirely Siberia. Since the Loop "year" actually lasts for six months, the weather records in Siberia consist only of winter and warm spring-almost-summer, which on a certain day abruptly snaps back to winter. As it turned out, the count error can clone not only people, but also weather conditions.
After tiring unsuccessful battles with the growing spider hive, People made a risky decision to show their back to the enemy and flee - and just at that moment, the Double Winter struck. The hell cold took everyone by surprise. Death from hypothermia has no warranty, and for the first time the combatants began to lose heavily in numbers instead of the usual increase. The respawn of the killed often took a whole day or even more. People continued to retreat confidently, taking with them everything that could provide any warmth. What could not be taken and carried - could be destroyed to not provide the enemy with a smallest advantage. Spiders, who were not so far-sighted and always used the most straightforward strategy available, occupied the gutted buildings, but were left without clothes, without fire, without electricity. Any idle would start killing. Their bodies cooled down and were not able to catch the same tempo+temperature again after this, every minute more and more slowly crawling to the cold death. They were forced to return to their bases, lock themselves in de-energized rooms, huddle in heaps of rustling bodies and wait for the cold to end. People, in turn, not willing to pull the tiger by the tail the second time, proudly conceded the entire Siberian sector to the Spiders and crowded together in America, declaring this maneuver an unconditional victory.
