Description

The sound of steel jaws snapping shut bounced off the trees, followed moments later by a pained screech of anguish and terror that tore through the forest. Ford struggled desperately in the trap's metal grasp, but every movement only drove the teeth further into his flesh. The crunch of bones echoed in his ears as he fought to free his leg, but he was deaf to it, consumed by the overwhelming, panic driven need to escape. The hunter he'd been accompanying stood in front of him, face expressionless as he stared at the grem, watching as Ford's ears changed colour to fit his fear. He made no move to help Ford, only wincing when Ford's cries grew higher in pitch. The hunter drew his cigarette from his mouth and gave a careless shrug. The family had already told him that Ford was worthless to them now, that they didn't care if something happened.

So why should he?

Without another glance, the hunter turned, whistling for his dogs, and left the grem clawing at the dirt, reaching out for a hand that'd never help him.

I started this a bit ago, but the prompt really gave me the inspiration to complete it! Poor Ford doesn't have a great life :c The family that bought him only bought him to show off their wealth, and when he started getting rebellious they decided they couldn't be less bothered about him and gave him to their huntsman to use as a 'hunting dog'.
This is the event that cost him his leg, but he'd much rather have one leg and be free than be back with the family again.
