So, judging by Zack's shirt, I take it you are a fan of the metal band, Motley Crue?

They're alright but I gave him that shirt because I think it's a band HE would enjoy.

Interesting theology that newcomer has there.

Speaking of theology, Zack better start praying soon...

Oh boy. Let me break this down.

1. Before I start I generally take some time planning the layout of each panel and figuring out what needs to happen on the page. Sometimes I know what to do right away and sometimes it takes some playing around to find a layout I'm happy with. This part takes about thirty minutes, I guess? It's hard to say, I've never really timed it. Sometimes I do a bunch of storyboards in advance, which means I get to skip this part completely!

2. Penciling happens. I try to do it quick and loose so I can jump right to the inking, but sometimes there's a lot going on in the scene and I have to spend some extra time with it. It generally takes about an hour or two, but if the scene is particularly busy, I have to spend some more time tightening the pencils up, which can add another hour.

3. Inking. I tend to add a lot of minor details in this step and it usually takes about as long as the penciling itself.

4. Next I scan the lineart and bring it to Photoshop! This is where I do stuff like adding colors and screentones, filling in the large black areas, making corrections to the lineart, etc. This is far and away the most time-consuming part and it takes about two or three hours.

I can't really give you an exact figure but each page takes me about 6-7 hours, give or take. It's a lot of work!

Well, as you can see, there isn't a whole lot of color here! With this comic I stick to a "monochrome with just the one color" thing, because A) I do think it looks interesting and B) it saves time. I don't even know how much time it would take to do each panel in full color.

I'm still trying to understand color myself (and still have no idea what I'm doing). I guess it comes down to thinking about light source and what kinds of colors look good together. And practice, lots of that! Just gotta stick with it.

Mm~

May I ask you for the origins for your comics??

I think, sigh, if I remember, ur first was in 2012? right?

So why continue all the way till now?

Was it just a passion to create art? or?

Well, I drew the first chapter around 2010, then I sat on it for a while like "I'll get back to this later." Then in 2015 I made up my mind to start it up again because holy crap it had been like five years. So, much of what you see here was drawn through last year and this one.

I just wanted to make a comic that has everything I like! And I'm always drawing these characters anyway, I might as well actually do something with them.

. Awe~ That is awesome.

How did u come up with the characters? Were they just random drawings from when you were younger and you slowly refined them? Or did something inspire u to make them?

It depends! Some of these characters are as you say - I came up with them back in high school and tweaked the designs over time - Izzy and Ingrid in particular went through a million different "looks." The story itself has changed radically over the years - originally it was gonna be a slice-of-life comedy, and one of the main villains was going to be the protagonist!

Usually when I design characters I do an initial sketch where I just throw every idea I have at the wall and then find what I think are the coolest elements of the design and emphasize those, while removing the stuff that I end up liking less. Sometimes I have a concept that stays consistent from the very beginning (like a punk-rocker samurai or a robot with a burlap sack for a head), and sometimes it changes radically over time. (For example, the huge murderous school principal with a silhouette face was originally planned as a 15-year-old kid who could punch people hard enough to make mushroom clouds.)

I don't really know what inspires them. I just draw stuff that I think is cool.

I had a flash of inspiration for this layout and I drew it without any doubt
