Description
YOOOoooooooooSpent a bit longer on this one if you can tell,, (and also simplified Nulls already simple design for the sake of saving time)
This one is 23 frames
Animated with "FireAlpaca", started yesterday (you know, during the time I actually should've been studying for Maths)
And here's what the initial sketched frames looked like:

You need to "export layers" instead of "save", which will save all the frames as separate PNG. files (best to make an extra folder for that) and after that FireAlpaca will offer to open their website for you, where you can load the PNG files and let the website turn it into an animated gif.
Though I prefer to use a different website, since FA's site doesn't allow you to edit much of the gif after you've uploaded everything.
gifmaker.org/ this one lets you duplicate frames, and even change the time of how long singular frames should be shown

What program did you use to make this? :3

Reading the description where artists usually put text relating to the thing they post, is a pretty neat place to look for info that could quickly answer your question before you even have to ask about it ;000 Because artists usually can imagine what common questions would be, so they make use of the description to save people the time of having to ask about it ;>
There isn't even that much text there, just look at the fourth line which starts with "Animated with "FireAlpaca"" and you have your answer!

It should be appreciated how much detail is put into the muscles!

Such a well made animation! The whole body is moving together, there aren't any awkward frozen part like so many other run cycles.
I'd love see more animations from you so you just gained another watcher!

the muscle definition is so goshdarn good ;-; most of the run cycles i see are either in a cartoony style or of fluffy creatures, it's a really nice change to really get to see the way muscles connect and actually look in motion
you call yourself a beginner but you're so good already omg ;;

Nicely done!
This makes me want to try animation even more. Do you have any tips for starters?
π: 0 β©: 1
Remarin In reply to TheReptilianWolf [2017-06-14 17:02:56 +0000 UTC]
UUUhhh I'm a starter myself so I'm sure I would be able to give good advice,,
Dont start doing the motion frame by frame, but divide the motion in it's key components (Like: start, middle, end) and then add any transition frames inbetween ((that's what I currently try to get used to doing,, I'm always tempted to just do all the inbetween-transitions right of the bat, but it makes things more difficult to control or adjust))
Not every frame has to look perfect,, uuh and as always, it really helps to look up animation videos or tutorials 8I
I'm still trying to figure out what works for me best, so I can't help that much
In the end the most important part is to just start doing it and play around x:

Also, I'll be looking forward to your animations, I think they're awesome!!

ohhh this is amazing! one thing I did notice though, is that between about frames 20 and 0 it looks like their from left paw grows a bit haha
π: 0 β©: 1
Remarin In reply to SirStudMuffin [2017-06-14 09:57:50 +0000 UTC]
I could stare at it forever and find a million things that are still wrong with it :'0 I noticed after posting it that there's 1 single frame where I forgot to add the hatched shading on the 2 legs further back,,, so even if you tell yourself that there's no way you'll miss anything that obvious, it still won't prevent it from happening
π: 0 β©: 1
SirStudMuffin In reply to Remarin [2017-06-14 14:05:02 +0000 UTC]
yeah itll always happen haha, thats the point of it being rough and practice though! eventually, the more you animate, im sure youll pick up on these little errors easier, still looks fantastic though!

WilderWhine [2017-06-14 00:55:17 +0000 UTC]
Absolutely fantastic, I've literally just been staring for a few minutes at all the muscles moving and how each leg braces against the ground... So hypnotic.

I honestly don't know much about animation when it comes to practice but I know some about the theory. This looks very good honestly, I love how you detailed the anatomy through the whole thing <3
I read a bit the comments below mine and I wanted to add a lil thing: when most animals run, at the time of taking off the ground it's the head that leads the body and the rest just follows. In your animations the front legs go first and then the head kind of follows them ^^
Imagine them jumping with head first leading the impulse and then spreading their legs to land! (I believe you had this in mind but the head would still push a bit more before the legs)

Remarin In reply to Habittcat [2017-06-14 10:00:31 +0000 UTC]
aahh the head was the most irritating part because I had no real idea what to do with it,, I'll keep that in mind tho!! I'm more and more grasping how important it is for the key-frames to have correct reference points :'I

The animation is really nice and smooth! But I'd use less frames, as the cycle is very slow and he seems like he's floating.Β
My suggestion is to use the time, 1 seconds is 12 drawings, exposed 2 times (meaning you use the drawings 2 times, one after the other), so it would be 24 frames per second, it would be as smooth, because the eye can only see 10 images per seconde, and he'd be going at normal speed <<(this is just the basic) Unless you wanted him to run in slow motion?
Another thing I'd change would be the back arc, but if I look at it overall, it's excellent work!
That's only my point of view, as an animator student^^ continue your good work!
(I adore your speedpaints btw ;u
Tip: Less frames=faster animation/movements
Β Β Β More frames=slowmotion/ movements

Thank you very much! I'd still consider myself an amateur,, still mostly improvising,, only knowing a couple of tidbits I've picked up from watching other animators or youtube videos ;x It does help to have it spelled out like this, since I mostly just go with my gut feeling when having to make decisions like that.
And I did intend for it to go a bit slower,, I'm a sucker for anatomy-stuff so, to bring out the most of it I opted for a tad slower cycle :>
But yeah, I feel like I'm slowly getting the hang of the whole frame-amount-changes-the-entire-pace thing,, thank you for the advice!!
