Description
*wheeze* 36 frameshelp,,
well I've always wanted to try doing a fight scene,, but holy hell ((I think the inbetween stepping looks the least appealing,, hopping around, weightless douche >:I ))
OK so I do remember saying that I would start working on commissions again,, which I will do now, definitely

What program do you use to animate in? I'm going to try it myself but I don't know what to use ': )

I've found out that you can animate with the program "fireAlpaca" through this tutorial video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpN5QDβ¦
It's free as well and fits exactly what I've been looking for :'I Other free animation programs are either at MS Paint level, or use vectors, or are plain bad for drawing frame by frame-style
So this program is basically a drawing one, that lets you use layers as frames and offers a small preview window where you can test the look of the animation in different speeds!

CHRIST
That would be a hand and a half sword, with that wielding pattern, correct? Β I don't know as much about weapons as many of my friends do. Β The one thing about two handed that I do know is you have to open up the body and it's really discomforting until you get used to it, because you feel vulnerable.

Most probably yes! The only stuff I know about sword-wielding comes from fantasy books,, and I personally prefer the look of fight-scenes where the wielder can switch between one hand or two handed.

I sometimes poke my nose into youtube for sword stuff, perhaps this is useful? Β Not so much strikes, but definitely good for sword design!

oooh that does help yes!!! That certainly shows exactly what the exact grip on the sword should look like (I always feel lost when drawing the hands on the handle)

Awesome, so glad I could help! Β
Other things I've found helpful are having replicas/foam sparring swords; they help you get a feel for the weighting and the range of motion. Β I've tended to make my own, but I know places sell them too (for what I feel are outlandish prices, but eh). Β

FireAlpaca! It's free and is basically a drawing programs that has some minimal animation options,, I learned about it through this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpN5QDβ¦

This is so good! Haha, I guess you're on an animation high right now? Not that I'm complaining, I only with I had enough motivation to start and finish more of my animations like you.

hhhhh I fear that once I start focusing on my normal stuff again, it'll take forever to get back into animation. I'm usually investing either 100% or 10%.
And the habit to finish things in one go can be pretty neat,, but also quite exhausting x:

CorvidVolk In reply to Remarin [2017-06-14 17:31:30 +0000 UTC]
I agree! I'm focusing on my art at the moment, so my animation is getting a little rusty. Since I often set myself really high standards with my animations, I often can't finish them in one go and by the time I come back to finish it, I would've already lost interest. It can get exhausting quickly, so I usually have short breaks in between finishing every 5-15 frames.
