Description Life as an asset. Sort of a sad feeling of acceptance here. Enjoy.

Just curious, where did you get your ideas for this particular theme? Was this an issue you experienced in the workplace or from friends?

This came from growing up and helping my mother deal with this in a really poor area of the country where there were a few jobs, small towns, and all of the places you could work had the grapevine. If you caused trouble, spoke up, or wronged someone above you - you were undesirable in the workforce and went on welfare. The support systems, being the government, were full of scammers, opportunists, waste, and leeches on the system. Even if you did get food handouts, the food was so unhealthy it slowly killed you from heart disease and obesity. 60% of my family suffered that fate.

And governments and militaries aren't agile and fast adapters. If superheroes start appearing, superheroes get sequestered so the enemy doesn't get their hands on them first. You seen how fast James reacted and adapted versus this.

It is fun to see superheroes dealing with these problems because it runs counter to the narrative we are sold with them in movies and comics. They have powers, but they are not "power."

Very nice thoughts and agree on many points - thanks for sharing that! I have fallen some off the DC/Marvel film bandwagon as well - they just don't interest me and the formulas are very predictable. And yes, there are times I feel the genre exists as a vehicle for people to tow their social issues with and attack others. To me, just because a big company spent a half-billion dollars making something doesn't give it any weight in my opinions and core beliefs. People think a dollar spent on entertainment is a vote for some idea.

My Survivor and Restart strips are more everyday person and I like that genre without superheroes. I need to index those for easier navigation but that is a huge job.

My strips are sort of a satire of the superhero genre, challenging the empowerment narrative companies sell the fantasy with, and how the genre is being milked. Corporate superheroes? Sellouts and profit-minded opportunists with no altruism or greater good. Government superheroes? Your life is crap, diversity hires, military regulations, and you get replaced and siloed away. If you are free like Overlord or Cross? Hunted like criminals or terrorists with drones and special forces. None of these lives are good, and you are just surviving what happens next.
