Description Custom sculpted rocks today, out of the box shader. Lots of thinking while I play with my virtual clay. Cleaning my desktop.

I get a feeling of stagnation on dA, like a rock you place in a desert, go away for 7 years, and you come back and the rock is still in the same place and it hasn't changed. Yes...45 million unique visitors a month come here, but I see very few of them. I could put slideshows of static 3d art up on Youtube and pan across them to distribution safe music and get orders of magnitude more engagement. I could write visual novels and put them on app stores and engage people in more dynamic ways.

I get the feeling image sharing and comic books are going the way of blogging. The word render feels like saying the word paintbrush before the word painting. Everything is rendered these days. In 5 years actors and TV personalities won't need to put makeup on or have their hair done - the machines will handle it with deep fake technology. The world will be rendered in real time with a fake layer overlaid for our enjoyment.

Or to present an alternate reality. With AI-driven botnets on social media, our perception of 'reality' on social media is already one of a view of a fake and artificial world. The world of images and live video is only a couple years off. You are seeing 3d anime cam-girls that are mo-capped by a live actor.

The 'more dynamic presentation' thought feels like it drives a stake in the heart of comics. I know they have tried to make 'interactive comics' like motion comics but those are still static distribution of images. Visual novels feel like a better way of distributing stories, at least for comics. You have some interaction, some input, and some choice. Or just write books, because those never really get outmoded.

Lots of thoughts.
