Sometimes I think a vampire apocalypse would be scarier than a zombie apocalypse. Zombies are dumb. If you're at least reasonably intelligent they wouldn't be that big of a problem. Unless they're those indestructible zombies from Return of the Living Dead. That's just cheating. Vampires, however, are intelligent undead and they use those enormous brain meats of theirs to actively hunt you down and murder the ever loving crap out of you. They don't just sort of wander around and bump into you by accident. True, they've got the whole 'can't go out in the sun' thing but that can be worked around. I mean do you have any idea how many miles of sewer and drainage tunnels there are under most metropolitan areas alone?
