Despite his nervousness for the upcoming month, Amery was very much looking forward to the social aspect of it all. He couldnt wait to meet new people and talk about their horses and careers. He recognised quite a lot of people from previous events he’s taken part in. A few he was able to remember their names and reconnect with them.

He was able to ignore the sense of impending doom while in the cosy Austrian bar. Everyone, well, almost everyone seemed to be in good spirits. He was able to pretend he wasnt a nervous wreck and had complete confidence while he chatted and joked about the event.

He knew, logically, he was not going to find this trail to be an easy one. He was used to all the comfort of indoor living, and quickly got miserable if wet or cold. But despite knowing he was going to be miserable, that didnt mean he couldnt do it, right? As long as he kept dry enough and well fed and rested often, there was no reason for him to fail this event…right.

As the night went on, he only got louder, probably shouldnt be a surprise, but the endless shots of palinka only fuelled his hyperactivity. He made sure to introduce himself to anyone he saw, even if some of the introductions ended up not making much sense as the evening went on.

He procrastinated from ending the night as long asp possible, but as the bar started to empty he knew he should probably turn in. He had noticed his stable colleague retire a few hours ago, although it didnt look like it was with the aim of being responsible…
