What I love is how normal and somewhat haunted this model seems.

I think serious portraits where the subject is looking straight at the camera really does make for a "haunted" feel...like you are being watched. When we look at photos, it's like we are "peering" into someone's world. When they are staring right back at us, it's like breaking a sort of false mirror that stands between the subject and the viewer. The expression and the fact that it is black and white also contribute to that feeling.
