Hi, sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I don't remember the settings and no longer have the file to check.
I do remember setting up the grass with one of the preset settings (ground texture) to start with, then adjusting the 3D grass texture/color to match the ground texture. That way I only needed 3D grass close to the camera, the distant grass is (ground) texture only.Β

This is very good, the scale and detail of the terrain makes it very realistic. Wonderful!

Awesome realism... Nice vegetation and terrain. Awesome composition. Looks like some areas south of Tucson except there might be a bit too much greenery!!!!

Thanks! I did render on 'crisp' settings, 'sharp' would have been a better option now that you mention it, thanks again for the input.

For a real moment there I thought that this was a photo of the hill country between Whangamomona and Stratford here in Taranaki, New Zealand.
Superb work. Absolutely first class.

Probably one of the most realistic Vue renders I've seen in ages. Sure the terrain and atmopshere is good, but I like most the look of boulders covered in grass up close on the hillsides, I dread what the polygon count was

Thanks for the great comment! 16 billion polygons, rendered in 3 hours and 10 minutes with 'user settings'. I thought it was quite efficient considering, plus I only have 2 gigs of ram and a 32 bit system. Going to upgrade soon though.
