Eh. the more I look at this proof, the more I find to fix! The color is pretty dingy. Maybe it is the matte page finish, but I am now going over the entire book ONE MORE TIME to make sure the colors are as clean as possible. I need to stop doing this and move on!

Some thirty years ago I was a pressman, working on offset press and producing mainly high quality things like photo books and mags, etc. I've learnt there that there is no print that could approach the original. Due to many facts like paper, light, halftone settings, density, ink drying features, etc. the print is always more dull and "dirty" (I mean the lack of colour vibrance) and once you know the original all prints are somewhat fake So don't dismay it is a process feature. Printing houses and all type of professionals involved tried different approaches to overcome this fact, starting from thermal processes and multiple colour printing even up to twelve (in my time) but the only thing they achieved was the rise of expense. There were unquestionable results for those efforts and the computer controlled processes of today are somewhat better but the expenses weren't in par with the results. So, you really need to stop doing this and move on—if you go through on every pages and re-tune all image files, the result will be still less vivid and vibrant and lovely than the original. But there will be more risk for printing issues that can ruin the result
Enjoy your book as much as we LOVE your series!

I am trying anyway! I don't think it will hurt to up the saturation in some places, and lightening some areas, on a page that are dark. I will also try printing on a gloss paper instead of matte.
-and I will try a different printing company.
I got a few sample pages of the sketchbook from the local printer, and they look really good. However, printing here is way more expensive than doing it in China or wherever . Like double the price.
I printed out a few tests on photo paper and THAT printing looks fantastic. I can't do that for the whole book though!

Many congratulations.

This is looking good! I sympathise with you about garages full of unsold books. That is what happens when you self print which is why I went to CreateSpace and Amazon after I learned the hard way.
But as you have the Windstones web site, you may be able to promote and sell hard copies that way. If you find your niche market, you should be okay. The interior looks good. You must feel quite chuffed with yourself for having got this far! Best wishes from me and I hope things pan out successfully.

I've still got a long way to go!
Yeah, I figure it will take a lifetime to sell this run of books off of the Windstone website! -but we do have a website, and storage room. Print on demand stuff is great, but so dang expensive per book!

You have a really loyal collector base and a large number of fans... way more than almost any other beginner authors have. And you have storage, etc... you may be surprised how well the books sell! Your art is beautiful, unique, and very attractive to leaf over for hours.
That said I understand how you might feel. I still have a room of my dinky house full of duck stamp prints and duck stamp stuff.

Every artist needs a warehouse for unsold stuff. Unsold stuff is part of life. At least your unsold stuff is FLAT!

Not as flat as you think! Each print comes in a special portfolio! UGH!

Doing it yourself is much harder than they tell you it is and promoting yourself when no one really knows you is the worst bit. You just have to stick to your belief that you have made something worthwhile to the best of your ability and that you will keep hoping someone else thinks so to, especially someone who can lift you out of the doldrums of anonymity.
So many of us wish you well, you have no idea how many fellow travellers you have, silently standing in the rain, cheering other indies on, and waiting for the sun to shine.

Thank you.
Yep, it certainly is hard. Mostly because I am making every mistake possible. I am optimistically thinking that once I get this all sorted, it will be easier the next time!
We do have storage room for gazillions of unsold books. I can offer this book on the Windstone Website, though the majority of those customers probably have no interest in a comic! We shall see.

Well, ultimately, it's the product that matters. If you have achieved your goal and done your thing, you can't be held responsible for the caprice of the public in trying to sell your product. Indies are on their own and so I can only wish you well. Just don't ever give in or give up. You always wanted to bring this story to life, and you have taken that step. That's what really matters.

I really like the cover. I just find the subtitle a bit disturbing since it doesn't seem to be in the center. Maybe I would like it better without it

I like the fact that some part of the drawing are escaping the frame so I'm ok with the croped picture not being centered. Anyway, you're doing an awesome job. Keep going !

There are still a few things I need to fix before printing hundreds of them. Little specks and things that didn't print perfectly because I goofed up..

I am Self publishing. This is just a test print by Lulu, but I will probably use Print Ninja, for the comic and a local printer for the sketchbook. I would use the local one for the comic too, but they don't do hard cover books.

I am not sure , I won't know until I see what the cost will be for the number I need to print, but I will probably sell them for between 16 and 20 bucks, for a hardbound book. We'll see what they end up costing. It is always a matter of needing to print enough of them to get the price down, but then you have zillions of unsold copies around forever. Oh well, we have a warehouse.

No. I haven't had a run of books printed yet, so they haven't been offered for sale.
I'm working on the kickstarter campaign to raise funds to print this book. That is a whole new mountain of work to add to the pile!

LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE! My bank account is a little on the anemic side right now, I'm afraid, but once I have a little more money, I will be delighted to throw some at this...how much for two copies? I want to give one to the library as well as have one for us.

I haven't decided on a price yet , I need to see what the actual costs are. This is only one proof copy, I haven't done the batch yet.
I think the price per hardback book will be around $18-$20, but we shall see. It depends on how many I get printed. the more you can print, the cheaper each book will be.

I will self publish it. I am going to do a kickstarter to gt a batch printed. I will be seling it directly from our website, and we will probably look into what we need to do to sell it on Amazon too.
I depends on how much trouble they are to deal with these days.

It's gotten way easier to be a merchant on Amazon. The author I worked with started out completely unknown and now sells pretty well there.

What is your website? It will be a long while before I can buy anything, but when I can I will definitely keep your books in mind. Neat that you managed to get a hardbound book. All I can do is paperbacks.
I published through Create Space because it was free. Their color prints are not very good, but the overall quality of their books is pretty good.

My work also shows up on Amazon. Best I could do since no literary agent will take me on since I haven't sold over a thousand copies.
