Description “Reptile – Vol.2”

This is an alternate cover for my second graphic novel “Might and Magic”.

Somehow, I felt the urge to draw “Reptile Cynrik” and his deadly foe “Thronos” (an Ichiak demon) in a dynamic battle scene.

This time, I wanted to be “brave” and used the “manga-hard-shading-style”… this is a drawing style with bold black shades. Usually, that doesn’t look so good… but if the shades are set properly, it can look quite excellent. ^^

Anyway, enjoy Reptile in action!!

BONUS:
Here are the alternate covers for my graphic novels volume 1 and 3 (I’ve used some older artworks for these covers, so there’s not much new work):

Looks like this is going to hurt. Though I personally prefer your traditional high detail works, these are still entertaining.

I do prefer my traditional style, too. But this style is open for experiments and I can TRY OUT a lot of ideas. ^__^

Love it! Might and Magic is one of my favorite Reptile comics. Loved the climatic fight between Reptile and Thronos, but I wish we could have seen more of that Thronos beast in action.

Yay, I'm happy ya like this comic. ^^ Well, there are some pin ups about Thronos at my homepage... but yeah, he was quite epic.
Anyway, the ICHIAK (his race) will provide more action in the future: they are invading the northern lands!!!

Very, very nice! You can breathe the action in this scene! It looks like they're moving. I loved it, really.

By the way, I didn't know that you ever published a comic o.o do you know how many people bought it? I would surely buy one if I see selling in a library

I did not publish any comic/graphic novel. The comics are just a hobby and free to download.

BUT I have published a NOVEL! A fantasy novel, which is about the same story like in comic #5 "Circle of Doom". And this book is not a bestseller, either... but it's cool to have a novel published. ^^

Heh, I'm almost finishing a novel too, and I hope that I can publish it succesfully.

So, your novel's name is "circle of doom" also or has another name? I'm curious now, I'll try to find it in portuguese.

ReptileCynrik In reply to Giruveganus-aevis [2010-10-17 16:55:13 +0000 UTC]

This is it ---> [link]

It is called "Reptile - Der Kreis des Verderbens" in German. "Circle of Doom" is my appropiate translation of it.

Unfortunately, the novel has never been translated officially... so there is ONLY a German version!
You surely can order the book in many countries... but it's always written in German.

So, here I go to start learning German! Just kiddin' ^^" But one of my dreams is to learn German and Russian, to travel to German and Russia, of course!

Although, thank you for showing interest in answering my questions and giving me even the link.

You know, there is only 1 other person I have seen drawing his lineart like this! And that was a marvel comic artist once at greece's comicon! Seriously I love the action and battle thrill in this style and you are 100 times better than anyone else at this!!

So much skill in 1 picture!!! I must desktop it!!!!

Oh my, the new graphic novel covers in digital version, huh? I really like Reptile and Thronos' poses in epic battle on Earth. Nicely done on other covers

I'd wish to continue on my comics, but I still need to persist on my sketches to practice more on action poses and new ones.

ReptileCynrik In reply to TargonRedDragon [2010-10-14 03:56:07 +0000 UTC]

No, I won't do a new graphic novel in digital media. This is just an alernate cover.
Thanks for the comment! ^^

I know. Your comics in traditional media are so cool! so there is no need to change the style. They're epic and freaking awesome, as I see your characters fighting and going into their troubles.

And you're welcome

Maby it's just me but wouldn't it look better in black&white? I don't really like this kind of shading with colours, looks awkward.

Soooooooo, just for YOU ---> [link]

^^ Yeah, it DOES look good. I'm uncertain about the sky, anyway... but whatever.
Here is the black-white version for you! I even put this at my website in "Sketches".

You see, I don't just say "Naaaah, rubbish!" I always want to try out different aspects and views. ^^ Thank you!!!

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2010-10-13 18:53:44 +0000 UTC]

Well i actually menat to dim the colours to grays

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2010-10-14 03:52:47 +0000 UTC]

Oooooookay, your wish/suggestions is my command. Well, even THIS can be done ---> [link]

Hehehe... I suppose, I got what you mean. But in actual mangas, the grey tones are... "poorly" printed, with many "printing dots", right? XD

Well, thanks to your ideas we have a third version now. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2010-10-24 14:11:48 +0000 UTC]

and like for me this one looks the best

Um, you know that those dots are intentional? It's not the fault of the print but patterns sused for colouring, and they are suppose to imitate the grainyness.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2010-10-25 13:51:56 +0000 UTC]

Ya know, I've always wondered if the dots are intentional or if they just use CHEAP print media!!! XD Wow, cool. Some addition to my knowledge then, thanks!

Ow, and thanks for the comment to this and the other versions. ^__^ There is no problem, to play around with different versions. This grey one indeed has "something".
Take care!

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2010-10-25 14:25:48 +0000 UTC]

IT very popular to use rasters for mangas, they give effects like that

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2010-10-13 17:28:56 +0000 UTC]

Hrmmmmmm... that is an idea, hun. If I leave the colours, we have "FRANK MILLER - SIN CITY" again, hehehe. XD I guess, I didn't want to have this style or connection to the artist again.

But I have deactivated the colours a few times, yeah. Though... it is now a more or less typical comic style and I just wanted to try it out once more. ^^
I won't do it THAT often, nope.

How are you, anyway? I'm over a long illness... stupid bronchitis, eeew. But I'm almost healthy again.
I hope, you're okay.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2010-10-13 18:55:20 +0000 UTC]

I get the point, but you could try and use grays like they do it in mangas.

Aw, i am sorry. You really ahve badluck with bronchitis I am fine, little down on moods.

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2010-10-14 03:53:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your kind words. Wish you all the best for your moods.

Very nice work, Cynrik. The hard shading came out very well and makes it so much more dramatic and sinister. Like Sin City, almost, but in color.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReptileCynrik In reply to Chrysshart [2010-10-13 06:06:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, if you delete the colours you have almost 100% FRANK MILLER! XD But I just love that style. And it's something great to practise with.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chrysshart In reply to ReptileCynrik [2010-10-14 03:49:40 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReptileCynrik In reply to Psydrache [2010-10-12 14:50:41 +0000 UTC]

*gibt an*

Zum "Rest"... *grins breit* VIELEN DANK AUCH!
