Description This popped into my head while I was feeling depressed. This helps me get out of the slumps I allow myself to fall into. It might not apply to everyone, but it certainly applies to me.

Failing a class? You can do something about it. Diagnosed with terminal cancer? You can pray for a miracle, but that's about it.

I'd say this applies to people who tend to make a big deal about things when in reality they are problems that can be solved with the right attitude. Set your problem next to something big and it suddenly becomes smaller and manageable.

edit:
Thank you all for the feedback and the favorites. I'm happy to hear it helped a few and I like the different opinions.

This may work for some people, and others need to hear this to stop acting like jerks, but for many people this is a form of bullying called minimizing. It makes the person feel insignificant, along with any praise they might hear or anything they might do.

Point spoken, considering this is directed towards people who think a broken nail is the size of world war II, nothing needs to be added. hehe.

Even then, freaking out is necessary sometimes if its in the nature of the person and its what leads that person to discover a solution. I believe the only way a person can help oneself is if he/she finds the solution themselves, because suggestions of others will most likely go over someones head in stress.

A lot of mine are as small as you say.However... I'd say one holds a good grip on anyone in my position.
Rather not elabourate... So no one should confront me.
I'd say I'd rather be in my position than to be starving in a third world country.
But no one can say I'm selfish about it, when every year at christmas instead of a prezent for myself my uncle will donate sheep, goats, chickens and pigs to a starving familly. And I asked him for this.

I think the size of problems is subjective. Of course they are going to seem big to someone who's never had to deal with anything more.

It does not necessarily have to become smaller; it's just put in larger perspective and one then realizes the problem's real size - as you've portrayed. Good and inspirative job.
Fav.

people are over dramatic... or theyre too busy panicking to think.

either way, freaking out, then coming back to it is fine.... if people could do so in a reasonable manner.
