Aww, this is so cute!
Keira looks so perky there, like she was listening all the spring birds singing.
Lovely soft colors and textures; it looks like this was an old portrait painted on canvas.

Thanks so much hun. I had a lot of fun with this. I went for brighter colors than I normally use (the pinks), but did try to achieve that "soft" or muted colors look. I'm delighted to hear that you think the colors and textures work.

Thank you! And thanks for the
too.
I'm so glad that I just finished winter. I know it can be beautiful, but I am so ready for the Spring and Summer seasons right now. Good luck with the winter weather!

This is really adorable, and I can't even find the words for it properly!
Keira's expression is so sweet and it genuinely looks like she's smiling. The touches of soft highlighting on her works really nicely, too (better, I think than cel shading might) and it feels kind of golden and summery The pink blossoms suit her so perfectly and hummingbirds just make everything awesome
You've drawn him so well, too!
I really like the background texture you've used and the gradient of blue to pink (do you have a link to the texture?). It just leaves a really tranquil feeling. And lastly, the border is a lovely finishing touch. I love these kind of patterns and its all just so beautifully put together.
I'll stop now - but I really just all round adore this

Thank you!
I actually had so much fun with this one. I wanted to make sure I had some sort of Spring picture of her while she is still a foal. And it was a great excuse to throw another little critter (hummingbird) in a shot with her.
I looked through my fav's stock folder here on dA, and don't see the texture there... I think it must have been one I found on Google. Unfortunately, I never bookmarked where all the textures I saved came from. I tried a reverse image search, but it didn't show anything. Sadly, I have no idea where it came from. I made the picture with a blue background, that faded to white, and then covered it with a pink paper-ish texture.
And thank you so much for all your lovely compliments... it always means so much to me when you have such wonderful things to say!

You're welcome ^^
Is Keira aging up a bit soon, then? My horses age kinda spastically until they're 4, then it sort of levels out, so Poe's technically already a yearling, but I think I'll have to do some spring art of her while she's still leggy and fuzzy
And no worries - I seem to lose track of stuff, too. Thanks for trying to find it. As for the compliments - you deserve them! (and it works both ways, too
)

Oh, I'm not going to age her too fast. I figure I'll keep her a foal for this first year. I "created" her in September 2012, so I'll probably keep her a foal for the first (RL) 12 months. Then have her show as a yearling for the next year after that. But the spring weather where I live is quickly turning to summer. So I wanted to make sure that I got at least one fun spring pic done with her and her "baby" face this month. Now I can focus on her summer pics and summer shows (reminds self I need to check Nationals dates).
I might have her jump a bit faster between 2-3 years, but the first two I'm planning on taking nice and slow. Not to mention it gives me more time to figure out where her "career" will be headed.
I would love to see some spring art of little Miss Poe while she's looking leggy and fuzzy, too! She could even enter my Spring contest... a great way to get some show points while you get some "freedom" to design her spring "look."

RL aging is quite nice to see, actually My foals age a bit faster because I'm not as keen on showing them young (read: I can't draw foal anatomy so I skip it XD) but when they start getting backed, everything just slows down. Mainly because the faster they age, the faster I have to think about retirement and the pastures of heaven
We don't do upstairs pastures at Lakewood XD
I know that feeling, though. I run my stable on real time weather, too. Lakewood gets far, far more snow than I do, but I find it quite funny that someone can look through my gallery and see the seasons change in art as they do where I live (and I'd completely forgotten about Nationals! I still need to send you Rue's side of our rp. Everything's gotten backed up lately and then this crazy story came into my head the other day and I'm trying to brainstorm that too... This'll be catch up week).
Sorry - rambling again. Anyway, I was definitely planning on entering Poe to your spring contest, actually! What with a new puppy, too, I had a fun idea for that, so here's hoping I have the time! And good luck with deciding on Keira's future, too ^^

Yay, looking forward to (hopefully) seeing Poe/puppy's entry.
I know what you mean about getting behind on projects. I'm not sure how, but suddenly feel like I have an enormous amount of things due in the next 30 days. At least Nationals is still a way off. But I have Keira registered in another Arab group's show that is due in one month exactly, and need to start on that.
At least my half of the fawnling story is done (is it bad if I don't want to go back and even look at it... baring any horrible grammatical edits that need to happen?). Take your time (no pressure from me) to finish Rue's POV. And then we can slowly put together an image. No rush on my part...

Me too Rl has just been crazy lately. I still desperately need a job, too.
It sounds like you've got a fair bit on your plate, as well. Good luck with all of it! Sadly, other than a couple of things, I think Lakewood's going to slow up a bit while I focus on writing my novel around getting work.
(I don't think that's a bad thing at all - I get that feeling a lot, too) And thanks for the lack of pressure ^^ I am sorry its not been finished as soon as hoped, but I guess that's life... It will be done eventually, though!

I'm not worried for Lakewood. I know it has a special place for you... and it can re-surge with activity any time you choose to have it make a stronger appearance (even comeback). And you should focus on what inspires you... if a novel is where your heart lies, I say pursue that. You never know, you could be the next Riordan or Rowling! Then you'd have so much $$$, you wouldn't need another job, and could do all the HARPG you ever wanted.
Seriously, take your time with the Rue RP. We'll get there whenever we get there. I want us to enjoy our fawnlings, and work on them when inspiration hits us (has your crazy Muse returned through the postal service yet?).

It really means a lot to me that you said that; its really amazing to know that others can see how much this little farm means to me ^^. And I am working on a novel, but it's been suggested to me to always have two projects on at once (so if I get annoyed with one, I can turn to the other). And so, I'm finally going to be writing the book of Lakewood Short stories that I've been planning for a while now. The aim is to get that published as a book of horse stories, but I'll announce it on here for those of my watchers who want to read some exclusive stories about the farm
I highly doubt I'll ever get the following or fame of any of those epic authors (even if it would be nice to live off books and just draw) but for now I'm aiming to get published XD. Anything else is bonus
Thank you, again We will definitely get there (and lol - she came back for a while, yep. She left a good handful of ideas in my brain and I got a drawing done last week that I still haven't uploaded yet. She stayed long enough for me to plot out my entire novel then she's hidden somewhere. This is an ongoing thing XD. I'll fish her out and keep her occupied with sugar
)

Well my dear, you never know... I bet those authors didn't expect to receive the followers or fame they had either. But yes, having just hopes to get published is a great goal (and enjoying anything else that follows as an unexpected surprise/reward). I can't wait to read your Lakewood stories either.
And I think the sugar-tempting plan to help keep Ms. Muse around sounds like a great idea. I know it would work wonders on me. LOL.

That is true; to be fair, anticipating a massive following is probably a surefire way to disappoint yourself . I'm really glad you're already looking forward to reading the stories. I'm really keen to start writing them, and if all goes well, I've got a few ideas stored up for a holiday 'edition' (all these official words XD) so Christmas, Halloween stories and the like.
Haha, I'll bust out the sugar and lock her up for a bit so I can get a lot done this week. My rabbit, Bug, is finally getting spayed, so I'll probably be watching her for a few days anyway, which is lots of time to type away
