Description Got this idea while browsing the site and found an image of a person holding a weapon far too small to be useful (looked like a stick). I though it would be funny to make it look the other way around X3

This is Caeil. He's currently living at Harleighat's Fighting Academy, mainly as a dragon caretaker than actual student (a way to pay for all the extra food he eats ). Sometimes he also helps during the trainings, which is what is happening right now. I understand having to sit down, but using a human sized sword?

I don't know how he got to live at the academy. It's mainly a human school and the society tends to hate giants (actually he's the only one there!). I think he was abandoned when he was little and somehow got adopted by one of the academy's teachers
The people there tend to accept him well though, except those who have a deep grudge against his kind or were stupid enough to call him dumb (the last one ended up perched on the top of a tree). He's a real nice and friendly person and enjoys helping the students with their occasional pranks (he's about the same age too)

Again one of my doodles that evolved into a full picture. I really like doing it and was a great experience to improve my cell-shading
I know it has lots of mistakes but I like it none the less

Jeez, that waster couldn't even qualify as a practice dagger for Caeil, given the stubby hilt compared to his hand. XD

But seriously that's funny.

Now you need a witch and a scarecrow and a bucket of fried chicken to complete this scene, but it will do...
(I'm a witch, scarecrow, and chicken fan.)
Hooray for giants!

Some characters are just inspiring

Yeah, specially to the snobbish ones (the sons of Lords and stuff). One in particular woke up in the chicken coop one day, bed and everything

I did some of those too. Helping one of his friends getting out of the academy so he could see his girlfriend and receiving a blast from one of the dragons
(Yeah, me too. To meet with my parthner and finish a stupid assignment for Monday )

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-06 18:57:44 +0000 UTC]

Here is actually another idea: An arrogant guy (maybe a snobbish type or something, who pisses people off in general anyways) is saying something in the end of a phrase like "Besides, he's just a dumb giant."

He's not seeing d the giant has just turned his head back at him (he'd been like walking away before the wrong thing to be said), giving "What did you say?"-look. Its pretty obvious that the people are clearing the way, giving mixed looks either of the two since they all know they're better off doing that now.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Feyzer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-06 19:21:24 +0000 UTC]

(or that they both agree on that the jerk could be taught a little lesson anyways, and being in a annoyed giant's way isn't really a smart idea)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-06 20:20:52 +0000 UTC]

Had a very similar idea like that actually
That git called him dumb so he decided to teach him a lesson. He grabs him, bends the tallest tree he could find and leaves him up there for the night (the teachers brought him down a few ours later). But when he goes to the headmaster's office his heart fell when he finds out they're on Caeil's side (they know he wouldn't do anything unless provoked. Besides, he didn't hurt him so he couldn't really complain). He then tries to talk to his father but to his dismay he told him that the family's reputation was far more important than his pride (being trown out of the academy or argue with the headmaster's decisions would be a humiliation, since the school is gratly supported by the kingdom)
He then tries to take care of Caeil himself but screws up when they find out it was him who tampered with the dragons (managed to infuriate one somehow)

I don't know what happens from this point but Caeil will say something in the snob's behalf I believe

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-07 16:04:25 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, dunno about that for now, but there's always later.

Oh yeah, I played a real good RPG Board Game called Descent with sweetass models and such. Now why its got something to do here is when I noticed that while giants and dragons are pretty equal in status (very different skills of course) the giants have more toughness (I don't remember what dragons had better in status) Just thought about bringing that up with Caeil being a dragon caretaker.

Oh yeah, this is a quote you could use: "I thought all giants were big hunky ugly bearded guys."

-"Naw, that's just a stereotype. We/they aren't that much different from humans in general appearances."

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-07 16:10:36 +0000 UTC]

That and he's heavier than them. And he's pretty bold when dealing with them (prevented a blast by grabbing the dragon's tongue!)

He'd probably reply something like this: "Did you ever seen a beared woman before!?" *looking annoyed*
He's never been around giants as far as he can remember. He was very young when abandoned and developed some kind of psycological block against those memories

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-07 19:22:10 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... that I could believe. I mean, if compared the dragons would have slightly more fragile build, and his body would be more durable since it is bigger version of that of human (and thus needs to be much more durable to handle the size)... so its pretty obvious what the outcome is if they were to fight. I can imagine that is not that likely to happen, though I'd also imagine that he could easily wrestle and pin down the dragon until its calmed down.

Actually, if I remember correctly and its anyway related to this, alligators have got a couple of weaknesses. First is the covering up the eyes (works only on males I think, or was it the other way around?) and second is that while they can bite real hard, their jaw opening muscles are relatevily weak, enough for a grown man to keep closed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-07 19:35:07 +0000 UTC]

They have a ticker hide so physically they can be quite though. Caeil often just keeps their muzzle shut and keeps them pined down using his body and legs, usually by sitting on them. The big lizards get tired quickly with the struggling

Eyes are a weakness in every animal, as well as the legs in most cases. As for the alligators mouth they were made to close, not to open (fact taken from a documentary)

As for the tongue grabbing I mentioned before, it does work. I did it a couple of times on dogs that were trying to bite me and they were so startled by this movement they completely forgot to munch on my hand, just trying to pull it free instead

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-07 19:45:41 +0000 UTC]

As if in that they calm down strangely after they're covered up? That's what I meant, keeping the mouth shut

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-07 19:53:52 +0000 UTC]

He prefers to tire them out. They're easier to manage after that. Plus they can try to spit fire if he just covers their eyes (not good if there's people around!)

Here's another idea: Maybe its because of something either one of his friends started or something, but here and then an occasional strong warrior tries to prove his strenght by beating Caeil in a modified hand-wrestling match. Guess what I mean with modified.

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-07 20:14:58 +0000 UTC]

Well there was once a rather cocky freshman who said out loud he could anyone in an eating contest (Caeil eats in his own room and that guy hadn't seen him yet or knew of his existence). 2 of his friends heard him and went to ask the guy if he wanted to try and beat their current champion. He accepted the chanllenge and that night instead of going the dinning room, they took him to Caeil's room
Of course he was extremely surprised, but he was too proud to back on his word and took Caeil on. He lost of coures, but the Caeil was so impressed with his bravery he declared him the winner and offered his friendship. He too was impressed (by his friendly behaviour and giving up on the title) and gladly accepted
Humorous note: the guy was feeling so bloated, Caeil had to carry him to the dormitories XD

Hmm... just using one finger?

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-07 20:20:23 +0000 UTC]

That is funny, yet rather showing off how darn friendly he is. (Prolly one of the more surprising things for people meeting him for the first time)

Yup. That's what I meant. Its not necessarily strong warriors challenging him always, but you get my point.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-07 20:35:06 +0000 UTC]

It was his friends who planned it, not him. But I believe he felt pitty for the guy as well. He knew he could never beat him (he eats 5x more on a regular meal. At a contest... O.o ) but the freshman was trying so hard and was so determined he couldn't help it

Here's another story. One day a girl came to the academy (it's a all-males school, to avoid distractions ) and he felt so embarassed when she came to talk with him about the dragons (I think her's was ill or something. The academy has the reputation of having one of the biggest experts in dragon handling, so she came to ask for advice/help. Dunno yet) he couldn't even talk straight, much less do things right XD

*imagines how on hell he keeps his wrist on the table, since he obviously can't use the elbow* XD

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-07 20:41:05 +0000 UTC]

lol, one of the biggest experts... that must have been pretty funny indeed.

Well, it would be more Caeil just putting the hand on the ground, in front of the challenger who then tries to push it up, handwrestling just came in mind since I needed to call it something.

Whoops, dunno how that happened. Ehehehee. Anyways, you got the point long ago.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-07 22:14:59 +0000 UTC]

They know him well enough to avoid that
But he got some payback when one of them fell in love with a girl from a town close by. He begged Caelin to help him getting out of the gates after dark. He did... by carrying him in the dragon dung cart he puts away every night (he was in a large bag to prevent getting dirty, but it still smelled awful)
They came up with a better way to do it afterwards XD

He didn't exactly told her how he managed to get out of the academy (Caeil's existence is partially hidden from most folk), only that he didn't saw a big pile of dung and triped on it. He washed and put on new clothes but the smell lingered. Don't think she completely believed him

Feyzer In reply to resizer [2006-01-10 01:42:27 +0000 UTC]

Hehehee. Hmm... I could imagine that being one thing anyone new in town is gonna get a slight surprise at, then.

Another possible scenario:

*A man with two kids running away from a dragon*

Man: Almost there... Its all gonna be allright, children! Just keep up with me!

*Unfortunately, he had a wrong turn at some point and ends up in a dead end*

Man: Oh no... *looks at the dragon jumping out of the woods, and looking at them with hungry look on its eyes. The man knows that things aren't looking too good now, even if he did his best saving the young boy and girl with him*

Girl: Waah, I'm scared!

Boy: We're gonna die!?

Man: Damn it... all I got is my hunting knife... Oh well... *takes a stance, even if its pretty grim now. Until...*

resizer In reply to Feyzer [2006-01-10 01:59:43 +0000 UTC]

Most would probably try to kill him if they knew, because of that "giants are evil" stereotype

C: *jumps from between the trees and tries to force the dragon to lose its balance, reaching for his mouth at the same time* RUN!
(they'd need to be extra lucky for him to be there at the time. He's not allowed to go to the woods often)
