beautiful work!!!

dont take this the wrong way, it reminds me of a couple of record covers from way back... 'exorcising ghosts' and 'gone to earth'

they're beautiful as well.

I think it would make a very good gate to hell, as ~Masterpsyker pointed out, but it almost seems to quiet for that. Maybe it is more like a sunrise.

I really like how the texture from the wax makes the surface look so very interesting and real. Interesting technique

I appriciate the technique used here, but don't quite get what the picture is.

Is it a door, a window, a gate to hell? I can't tell... could you give me a hand maybe?

Joscelin [2005-08-18 02:57:22 +0000 UTC]

I really like this. It's almost like those door pictures/paintings that are everywhere, but with more character. How large is it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reslow In reply to Joscelin [2005-08-18 20:49:22 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.
These are not so large. Only 25x25 cm, but I am currently working with scaling up .
It take some training in working with hot wax .

Maldoror24 [2005-08-17 21:31:14 +0000 UTC]

really awesome! but what is encaustic?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reslow In reply to Maldoror24 [2005-08-17 21:36:43 +0000 UTC]

Its wax. Beeswax. You have to melt it to 100 degrees celcius and mix with pigment or oilcolor.
Its hot to work with but cool

Maldoror24 In reply to Reslow [2005-08-17 21:45:41 +0000 UTC]

ah cool... and then, after cooling/drying, you have these little points? I knew it only with watercolour

Reslow In reply to Maldoror24 [2005-08-17 21:47:41 +0000 UTC]

After drying the wax layer I paint with oil or add collage or gold etc
