Description
[EDIT]: Submitting this for the 's contest.Cultural Pen Artwork for Advanced Art. I chose France, being the proud Frenchie that I am.
Based on Jacques-Louis David's iconic work, "Napoleon Crossing the Alps," [link] this picture is a political satire piece revolving around propaganda and empirical doom.
Here, we can see Napoleon, with his eyes alert and hand out-stretched, looking majestic on his horse. However, we can see the levies of water around his narrow strip of earth, and the giant wave that threatens that take him down.
The commentary here is that Napoleon, or in other words, the governments and societies of our world, can try to ignore the impeding doom that will destroy them, but they are powerless against the forces of nature, or circumstances that they cannot help. Napoleon is putting on a facade of valor, but in the eyes of the viewer, he is completely vulnerable and is soon to be washed away.
"Waterloo" refers to the infamous battle of Napoleon's defeat, and is also a pun to the torrent of water seen in the picture. The phrase "to meet one's waterloo," also means to meet one's doom.
I just love politically-sound artwork. <3

Yes, I mentioned in the description that this is a parody piece of "Napoleon Crossing the Alps." It's called WATERLOO because of the pun on water and Napoleon meeting his defeat.

I'm a sucker for political commentary.

So detailed! *__* And the shading is really cool!
I also like the concept, it's clever (you even made a pun with the title ).
The only thing that perhaps could be improved is that wave. At first it is difficult to tell that it is actually a wave, because there's only one small part of it on the pic.
But everything else is great. You deserve a fav.

Yeah, I agree with what you said about the wave. The shading doesn't really make sense, either. :/
Thank you! ^.^

Wow, looks really good! I love the hatching! Napoleon's proportions are a little off, but everything else looks great.

Thanks!
D'oh! @.@ He actually looks really short because I messed up his body. And his head's too big.
He was actually 5'6, so not very short, (but not very tall, either.)

It's okay guess you also had to fit it into the paper
I just said it because I heard that quite a few "big" people were short in history, guess Napoleon was also among them...

lol, big people short in history.
Now that I think of it, Hitler never really looked tall either.
Hm, who else...?

For a second, I thought your signature was your comment.
"Booj, why you talking about Kurt here?...OH."
lol, your signature changed like three times recently.
YES. I NOTICED.
LOL, he said that? That is pretty cute. :3

I've noticed that people that like Kurt also really like Blaine.
Maybe it's the most well-liked couple in Glee, lol.

Yeah, if you like Kurt, you gotta like Blaine. I think I like Blaine more than Kurt...I dunno, Kurt's sort of a jerk sometimes...and Blaine is so nice and supportive of everything...
LOL I read about Blaine on Wikia, his character's so adorable...[link] xD
I also read about what might happen in the future and everything; they said Klaine is probably gonna be the most popular couple in the entire show, for audiences AND in the actual show...(probably cause every girl just loves to see young, gay couples ><) and that their relationship is gonna grow super duper strong and everything...which will be interesting, since Darren Criss isn't even gay...I thought they might sort of keep the Klaine relationship a bit mild for him...but then again, he knew what he had in store for him and went for that role, and actors are always...you know...so...yeah...you know what I mean? LOL (Sounds confusing, I know xD)

Huh?
questions whether he is gay or bisexual, which makes Kurt angrily explain how bisexual is a term used by gay guys so "they can hold hands with girls and feel normal for a change".
WHOOOAAA. I bet bisexual people got offended by that. It's a controversial topic...Hm, I don't think you can "suddenly decide that you're gay, not bisexual" so quickly. Isn't it more of a long questioning process? After all, some people question themselves for years and years...
LOL, I like how the caption was "Kurt and Blaine's first kiss!" with an exclamation mark. xD
wow, he kissed Rachel. There's so much...entwined relationships in Glee. I don't get it. Is there anyone in Glee who just doesn't get anything? Like they completely stay out of it?

...Never mind. I'm confused too, now...I knew what I was talking about when I wrote it, but now...I forgot lol xD
I guess the term "bi" is sort of a "maybe" to Kurt, that it means the person is unsure of their sexuality and is just lingering in the middle...and Kurt doesn't like that apparently...
Okay, yeah, I just read the next part of your comment. Exactly!!
Hahah I kinda laughed at what Blaine said as he left the argument..."I'd say, "Bye," but I wouldn't want to make you angry." xD
LOL I know, geez, so exciting xD
Ehh, Blaine and Rachel's kiss only happened cause of Spin the Bottle...
It seems like everyone in the Glee club has kissed or dated each other at least once >< and the relationships come and go so quickly, it's as if they never cared i___i most of the time, they just break up and get with someone else in the glee club in one episode -____- and there's so much cheating!! x______x I guess that's one thing I don't like about Glee, the relationships >< they seem so fake, it's sad...

I think a lot people think they're bi at one point of their lives.
...I'm straight. Maybe I'm bi?
...I'm gay. Maybe I'm bi?
It's like the middle ground.

LOL yeah I think so too...like...when a straight girl sees another girl and thinks she's hot and get's all freaked out and thinks she's bisexual...hehe that happens all the time...
And when a guy sort of checks out another guy...damn, so many people to this, I just realized...
