I did a long time ago. Just different colors. It's not nearly as good as this.

I came here because the Tokyopop guys mentioned this.
So much detail... so many little pieces... makes it so awesome. Eva 02 is my favorite.

this just occurred to me while looking at this beautiful imagery. why not try to weather some of your figures? not the original but make a second and paint it scratch it make it look used. just a thought.

I'm a purist. I'm highly against manipulating the pieces by painting or cutting. Other builders have done it and it looks good sometimes, but I won't. I prefer the pieces to be reusable.

This is great, it shows all the detail. Everybody keeps asking for tutorials but why don't you just do something like a live stream(if you can be bothered)

I simply don't want to remake this, not even for a commission. It was hard the first time and I'd have to remember all of the techniques I used to get it to work. Building something like this is very different than the box Lego in stores. Tutorials will need to be extremely detailed to work properly.

no i mean for future builds and you wouldn't teach them how its more like showing them you work process in a way.

Can you show a full picture of this? Also, a video on how you built this?

I made this a few years ago: [link]
I don't make tutorials. This is too difficult to make that way.

HOly fucK HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT?! It's a fucking replica made from parts that AREN'T MEANT TO MAKE A REPLICA. How the hell do you make these things look so good with parts that aren't technically meant to make the specific thing? That's some extreme talent.

It may sound cheesy but I don't see pieces for what they're meant for. I see their shape and what they can do. It makes all the difference.

So do you use glue in your models to put pieces that work in the role of the character that won't fit in the part, or are all of your figures 100% connected naturally?

retinence In reply to PhantomofAsh [2013-03-06 05:45:31 +0000 UTC]
100% connected. Glue is too easy. I only use glue on commissioned models so they won't fall apart during shipping.

They break so easy. I ran out of all of those pieces because they all broke.

Haha, I always tell myself to be careful when I use them, and then I just end up pulling them off just as hard and breaking them :/

Didn't realize you used a minifig helmet as part of the helmet.

So, who's this Eva girl? Is she cu-oh wait, that stands for something! Don't know what, but Halo taught me. It's the really stupid helmet, right!

Halo has the EVA, or ExtraVehicular Activity (meaning space suit) helmet. Neon Genesis Evanglion, on the other hand, has giant biological mechs. Bit of a difference between a domed helmet and a ten story fighting monster linked into the brain of a human XD

Wow, no. That's completely different. Halo has nothing to do with Eva, despite sharing a name with a helmet.
