If you see the need to 'cover your arse' then why put it up here in the first place? If somebody used it for commercial use, even after seeing the statement, you could still be held accountable for providing the resource.
A courtesy to Ubisoft? You say it's 'covering all the bases' and 'covering your arse' but Ubisoft would still prosecute you for a mandatory minimum of 5 to 10 years. Do you really think that Ubisoft would be lenient with you because you say 'No Commercial Use'?
For somebody who says they have dealt with usage rights for over 20 years your very short sighted and conceivably ignorant of usage rights.
I won't cover your legal fees, but I'll sure as hell come and laugh at you in court, as you tell the judge 'But I told them not to make money from it'

Nice one for making this a .csh, well done. It's not that I want to use it as such.. but how can you claim 'No Commercial Use'? It's not your intellectual property in the first place. People would be answering to Ubisoft it was used comercially, not you. Im sure Ubisoft would be interested in the fact that you've recreated this in the first place. Claiming any usage rules on something that you don't own is both pretentious and redundant

I clearly saw that Ubisoft is credited as the copyright holder. Did I say anything to the contrary? You can't state any rules of use on an item that doesn't even belong to you in the first place. If I recreated the Olympic Committee logo (even in different colours) that doesn't then mean that it is my intellectual property and I claim terms of use.
I'm not trying to preach to you but dictating what a user does with something you don't own is paramount to Totalitarianism, and that is obviously how things need controlling. As stated in my last post, it's pretentious and redundant.

If somebody downloaded this resource and used it in a commercial project without Ubisoft's permission, conceivably Ubisoft or the person who used it could attempt to hold me liable for providing the resource. It's unlikely, but it is possible. As somebody who dealt with usage rights for over 20 years, I know what you view as redundant is called covering all bases and well as your ass in business. It's also a courtesy to Ubisoft for not forcing me to remove a copyrighted logo from my gallery.
So If you think the argument "its common sense" will legally protect you against potential liability, you're free to take the risk. I however, will not. Apologies if you find this inconvenient. I'll be happy to remove the "redundant" restriction if you agree to, in writing... cover all legal fees, penalties and associated costs I may incur in every event of illegal use.

I don't know if it's still available, but Ubisoft posted a AC 1 fansite kit to game's site. It had a bunch of different stuff that could be useful for fan art.
