This is a very simple way of folding a sheet of A4 paper into a rectangle so that it can be used as an envelope itself.
Instructions:

  • Write on the page facing upwards.
  • Take two opposing corners and fold them in the centre of the page - their sides will have to meet and align. You might want to fold the sheet in half to make a centre crease to find the centre.
  • Fold the remaining parts of the writing side in half
  • Lead the outer corners into the fold you just made.
  • Done.
  • (I'm not good at writing origami instructions, but I'm not going to steal one from the internet.)

Ahhhh that's super cool! And the medieval part in me says "Put a wax seal on it to keep it closed!"

    Oh yes!
Actually, if you want to send it, I recommend putting a bit of tape in the middle. But otherwise, you can just put a stamp on it and it works!

Hmm, I think in terms of origami instructions, you should keep it at a bird's eye view, or almost a bird's eye view. Otherwise it gets a little confusing with the 2Dness what you're supposed to be doing with the paper (I mean, how far in you're supposed to fold something, whether it's in the middle, etc. But hey, if it's just for aesthetic purposes, then go fo r the angle.

It is for aesthetic purposes as so far as a bird's eye view seemed really boring to me.
Yeah, it's less ideal for its function as a tutorial.

Thanks. Paper is such a thankful subject to animate - I have made another one (which will be uploaded soon, I hope) and it is worse than this one, but it still looks good. I should consider taking requests for tutorials like these.
