We were off to pick up the Christmas tree and I turned and there she was smiling at people all around town. I had the camera in my pocket as usual and snapped this off. It's about as candid as a photo can get.

I know the quality sucks and such but it was such a sweet moment and that's what makes a picture for me. The ones that aren't contrived.

I've looked at some of your other photos, and I think this one has a little too much going on in the background to be quite as successful, in my opinion. There's a little too much to focus on for me, but I love the idea of the composition.

Thanks for the imput. It's actually just a candid. It wasn't posed. A spur of the moment shot with a pocket digital.

That makes it even better! I'd love to see you pose a shot like that and I think it would come out really well. I really like Amazing Grace, by the way. The smile makes it a beautiful photo.

Thanks! I appreciate it. "Amazing Grace" is actually a very special photograph for me. I'm a single Dad and my daughter and I had just suffered a substantial loss when the one person who mattered most to each of us chose to move on. We were both trying to help each other cope and it was a melancholy moment for her and I as we realized we needed to keep going with out her. You can see the realization in her eyes as she begins to understand the loss.

Ahh, that explains the expression. Sorry to hear it, and I hope you two are doing okay.

Many thanks. Right now we're both ripped apart inside but we won't quit or give up. We'll get past this and come out stronger on the other end.
