Shiverpaw sprinted back to camp, ears flat and tears falling. She ducked inside of the apprentice den, curling up in a ball. Her father must really hate her, right? He followed her in.
"Shiverpaw." Rumblethroat's strong voice echoed through the empty den, making Shiverpaw shudder, her fur bristling. She scooted farther into the corner she was in, staring up at him with fear and anger.
"L-Leave me alone!" She cried out, unsheathing her claws. Rumblethroat wasn't sure what to say or do, so he just backed out, sitting down just outside of the den and sighing. Shiverpaw cried, shaking, afraid and not knowing what to think. She wanted comfort but was currently afraid of her paternal parent.
Shiverpaw sniffled and Rumblethroat asked if she was alright, to which she replied "....N-No one likes me anymore... only the cats in my dreams like me," she paused, coughing. "No one does...."
"that's not true," Rumblethroat claimed, poking his head back in. His daughter looked at him, shouting "It is! You hate me. Mom hates me. My siblings hate me," She lowered her ears. "Only Quailstar... and Swanfeather.."
Rumblethroat was pissed. "That's. Not. True," he spoke with a sharp tone, pausing in between words to emphasize. "I don'd hate you. i just dont like the way you've been acting lately. And even if i did hate you, Quailstar and Swanfeather don't like anyone. They both hate everyone and will only use you."
Shiverpaw trembled. "The way I've been acting is how I am," She growled a little. "Quailstar is my grandfather, isn't he? He only loves me out of all of my siblings. Swanfeather is nice to me..." She trailed off.
"That's how they get to you. They convince you that they love you just to make you comfortable then backstab you once they're done. Quailstar did that to me, he'll do it to you," Rumblethroat argued.
"Lies. All of what you are saying is lies. I don't believe you. The only time I'll listen to you is when you're teaching me to fight or hunt," Shiverpaw spoke with pure hatred in her tone. She had been told by the Dark Forest residents to kidnap and kill a kit from another clan, but said nothing of it.
"Would you like to tell me why you don't believe me?" Rumblethroat chimed in.
"Quailstar has done nothing wrong. He told me it was all your doings."
"Why do you believe him? Why do you believe a cat who's in the Dark Forest for a reason? Why do you believe someone who killed his own mate? Why do you believe someone who tried to murder your mother?"
"He's only there because you put him there. He never tried to kill mom," She hissed. "you did."
" Why would I have done that? Hmm? Give me a reason," He hissed back. "You're in denial and it's going to get you killed."
Her eyes flashed with anger. "Because you and him are the same. I won't be killed at all."
"If I'm the same as him, and I'm evil, then he's evil too. You are going to get killed. Your grandmother would be so disappointed in how you're acting." Rumblethroat had her cornered, and she got quiet.
"If Quailstar was still here, you wouldn't be. Your mother would be dead. I would be dead. EVERYONE HERE WOULD BE DEAD. Never. NEVER. Ever heed Quailstar's advice, unless you want everyone dead. If that's the case, then leave. You have no business being in this clan if you want everyone around you to suffer."
She lowered her ears and looked to the side. "...can we go hunting tomorrow then, dad? I don't feel like doing anything right now..."
Rumblethroat smoothed out his fur and nodded, walking out.

LIAR. She thought.
