"A Prayer for Hope"

For anyone who is suffering right now...we all need a prayer for rekindled optimism...that someday the pain will end, no matter how dark it seems.

I’m sorry that I’ve lost my way,
With hopelessness there’s a price to pay,
It seems I’ve shunned the good you’ve done,
In favor of this sad soul I have become.

I’ve been blinded by all the miserable things,
That kick me down and clip my wings,
No longer do I fly high and free,
For I suffer through all life throws at me.

When was the hour that I lost faith,
Believing that in silence I was safe,
Denying that happiness would ever return,
And to live in misery was what I deserved.

The sadness is made that much worse,
When hope is rebuked and relief is cursed,
And even harder is the pain to bear,
When you lose faith in the words of those who care.

Misfortune is just another part of life,
One cannot go by without running into strife,
But one thing you learn through it all,
Is you must keep rising every time you fall.

Why have I fallen and chose not to rise,
Choosing instead to succumb to my own painful lies,
Instead of believing that hope was not lost,
Continuing the journey at whatever cost.

To give up on optimism was the death sentence here,
Trading in smiles and laughter for misery and tears,
When I needed comfort most, I turned it aside,
These dark times are where I chose to bide.

What caused me to think I deserved all the pain,
To the point where I created a long-lasting stain,
Of faith lost on my heart, becoming deaf to the truths,
That pain won’t last forever, and hope is there to soothe.

Suffering will come, but never will last,
Melting away into the journey of our past,
All those tears soon eclipsed by rekindled hope,
When fears are conquered, when I at last choose to cope.

In prolonging my sadness, I gave into the fear,
That I deserved all the pain that now lingered here,
But when at last I decided to place trust in relief,
I could begin the journey to healing and peace.

All the bad times have now had their shot,
Making me suffer at my pitiable lot,
Though I took many hits and nearly went under,
No misfortune could make my spirit sunder.

I was never alone through these difficult times,
For the kindness of so many, helped me through my plight,
And though I am grateful for their watch over me,
It’s the greater good they’ve done that I hope that they see.

A prayer for hope was prayed every night,
The wish that soon things would be made right,
Well now my friends, I can say this to you,
Without all your care, I’d have barely made it through.

Perhaps on my own I’d see clearly once more,
But only after tears and pain were endured,
Sure there were hard times, but I was not alone,
And I suffered much less than I would on my own.

Though the progress is slow and the healing just started,
I’m ready to reclaim hope that almost departed,
Forgive me for acting like I was ready to quit,
And that I wouldn’t live to regret any of it.

Thank you for helping me along the way,
From the first heartfelt tear to the new hope for today,
This new prayer for hope will somehow save us all,
Helping us conquer our fears, and rise every time we fall.
