Okay, I had that poll asking if any of you would mind terribly if I made my own designs for Knuckles' (and Hidama's) parents, and the overwhelming majority said no, (two others voted in my spot and one person said yes but that doesn't really matter), so here they are, but I was gonna make them whether you liked it or not. Still, you guys are the best!

And again I don't follow Archie at all so don't even go there. Besides I plan to adapt all of the characters, replacing official ones with my own, to my own story, so it belongs 100% to me, so the less official I have to convert, the better.

Anyway, yep, these are Hidama and Knuckles' parents. Their father's name is Thaileon, and their mother's name is Laryllia. Thaileon's name was inspired by Tolkien. He has a character named Hurin, and in one of the stories about him he is called Thalion, which means 'strong and steadfast' and I thought that fit Hidama and Knuckles' father very well, so I changed the spelling and pronunciation and here we are. His name still means "steadfast" and is pronounced "Tay-lee-on."

Laryllia's name I made up myself. Her name means "Moon Flower" and is a combination of the echidna words Laire, for 'Moon' and Aryllia for 'Flower' Her name is pronounced "Lah-real-ee-uh."

Now for some history. Thaileon is obviously the last ruling Guardian before the echidnas are all but destroyed. His best friend is his distant cousin and is also one of his Captains, none other than Armundae, and while they are both friends with the other Captain, Thaileon and Armundae are considerably closer.

Thaileon was the second child, but first son, born to his parents. Along with his older sister, Thaileon also had a younger sister, and according to the laws established by the descendents of Kashoku and his son Sutei-Midoka, Thaileon would be the new Guardian.

However, he would have to rise to the occasion without much guidance, for his father, Faeron, dies when Thaileon is only fifteen, succumb to a fatal sickness. However, it is before Faeron dies that Shadow the Hedgehog first journeys to Angel Island, and because of his vast knowledge of their culture, and clear reverence for Kashoku, he earns Faeron's trust, as well as the trust and respect of all the echidnas, which is critical, as Shadow knows it is the birth of Thaileon's two sons in the near future that will signal the beginning of Mukot's assault on the survivors of Arandor and Kashoku.

After Faeron's death, Shadow becomes Thaileon's mentor. He also grows deeply close to Armundae, and though he chooses not to confide the truth of his presence to the two boys yet, he has faith that somehow one of them will make a difference in the future. Shadow is there when Thaileon becomes the Guardian upon his seventeenth birthday, only able to look on sadly as he realizes this is the last time a Guardian will rise in this way.

Laryilla is the granddaughter of one of the Village Elders, and is one of Thaileon's older sister's best friends. She was born on the night of the full moon, just as Lady Mitsukai was according to echidna history, which was why she was named, "Moon Flower." She helps comfort Thaileon following the death of his father, and while at the same time Armundae struggles to find a girl he connects with, his friend Thaileon believes he has found the love of his life, his twin soul.

When Thaileon is nineteen and Laryllia is twenty-one, the two are married, and the tribe rejoices, for they know soon the next heir to the Guardianship will be born. Shadow again has reason to be anxious, for he already knows the nature of these children too well. He knows that the power of Kashoku that has slept in the bloodline since the birth of Sutei-Midoka is soon to be awakened.

At the same time, Shadow has to help Armundae with his own problems. Shadow pleads with the Village Elders, who are furious with Armundae for his stubbornnes, to let Armundae travel to the Northern Kingdom, where a different branch of their kindred lives, so he might find a wife. Little does Shadow know that this will allow Armundae to meet Aerealei, the other survivor of Arandor's daughter Amarie, besides Amy, who has yet to be born. When Armundae returns only to tell them of his love for her, Shadow again pleads for them to accept it. He reminds the Elders, and Thaileon, of Kashoku's love for the hedgehogs, while keeping it secret that Kashoku was infact a hedgehog, Arandor in echidna form, and reasons that Kashoku would bless such a union.

Because of this, Aerealei is allowed to live on Angel Island and she and Armundae are married, although she insists on returning to her home in Valordian twice a year to tend her gardens. Anyway, back to these two.

Around the New Year, Thaileon and Laryllia announce they are expecting their first child. During this time, Armundae and Aerealei announce the same. Shadow disappears for a brief time to meet up with Kashkie, who at this point is staying on Spirit Island awaiting the birth of Jade. They wonder how long Mukot will wait to strike, and consult Kalak on what they should do when that time comes. Kalak tells them that they must only save the Children of Arandor. They simply cannot worry over the fates of anyone else, including the echidnas they've come to love, for if the children die, just one of them, the battle could quickly be lost.

Shadow knows Thaileon will not believe him when he explains him the situation, but feels he can speak to Armundae and his open heart. After the birth of Hidama, and the twins, Aranelion and Elianaron, Shadow begins to tell Armundae and Aerealei about their true history. While Armundae is skeptical at first, he believes Shadow's story, and swears allegiance to Shadow and the Light. However, this means he must go against his allegiance to Thaileon should the need arise, and this gives Armundae much grief.

After Knuckles is born, Armundae begins to talk to Thaileon about his conversations with Shadow. Thaileon condemns them, like most of the echidnas believing that the suggestion that Kashoku was anything more than an echidna and their King is blasphemy. They have the first fight they've had over their entire lives, and Armundae must decide who he will really swear allegiance to; his best friend and the Guardian, Thaileon, or the one soul who he truly believes walked beside Kashoku, Shadow.

Anyway, that turned into quite a production

So yes, basically Thaileon thinks that Shadow's words are nothing but lies, and unfortunately will not prepare himself for the attack Shadow warns is coming because of it. Armundae however believes Shadow; does this mean he'll be able to escape? Who knows?

If you remember I said Hidama was very suspicious of Kashkie, growing angry when it is said Kashkie is the reincarnation of Arandor, and thus Kashoku, threatening to pull out of the fight because of it. He gets it from his father.

However, Hidama takes more after his mother, who, while she doesn't believe Shadow anymore than Thaileon, tries her best to soothe the fighting and keep an open mind. She loves to sing, and Hidama inherits his beautiful and rich singing voice from her. Knuckles takes more after their father, for Thaileon is very stubborn and when he gets frustrated will often throw a tantrum. However, his heart will melt when it comes to Laryllia and her safety, causing him to open up to her the most. That's something you've seen with Knuckles and a certain pink hedgehog multiple times before...and you will again.

lawl, and how about that...now you see where Mikomi gets his white tipped locks from! And the knuckle claws skip a generation here...Faeron had them, but Thaileon doesn't. And that spear? That's the Guardian Spear you've heard Hidama mention. Guardians had to be skilled with both the Spear and the Bow and Arrows, and while Hidama is more partial to the Bow and Arrows, Thaileon, and most of the Guardians, used the Spear in combat.

But obviously they've had little experience with fighting when UnLight and the Malevils decide to attack...

I put Laryllia in cool colors...her name means "Moon Flower" after all.
