"I'll Wait for You"

For Aaron: The name says why and I love you.

Woke up feeling well today,
Only to learn you're far away,
Further than my heart can take,
For I could feel my spirit break.

The tears trickle down my face,
My stomach churns, my heart starts to race,
All my fears have now come true,
I had no time to say "I love you."

Now you're a phone call away from me,
Over hundreds of miles, for you've broken free,
From the town that we both used to call home,
While I'm frozen here, your heart may roam.

I'm dying just to follow your way,
And pray for the return of those wonderful days,
Where our friendship flourished and began to grow,
While these deep feelings I held were shy to show.

You brought so much joy to my once broken heart,
This friendship I treasure, for it was the start,
Of this tender and precious love for you,
That I wish so hard could have carried through.

Perhaps all the laughter allayed my fears,
Just as thinking of you soothes my tears,
But now I wish I was more aware,
Of just how little time we had left to share.

I'd give anything for a few days more,
So we could be together again as before,
Only now I'd remember what was not done,
This time I'd confess what I could no longer shun.

One day you'll know you mean the world to me,
For all that you are, and all you ever shall be,
That I am so blessed to have you for a friend,
And that your role in my life never will end.

Even now when you are far away,
I'll wait here for you every day,
My dreams of you will soothe the pain,
Until we can be together again.

Just know that my love will always be true,
As faithful as my wait for you,
No matter how many days go by,
Memories rekindled, or tears to cry.

You'll always be safe in my heart and dreams,
As we both walk alone, searching for what life means,
Please stay secure as you wander on your own,
Until we speak again by mail or phone.

I'll weather the sadness, months and trials,
I won't lose our friendship to those lonely miles,
I find hope in this love, that my dreams will come true,
