Of Summer...

The terrifying shrieks were getting fainter as the proud captain ran through the woods of his island home. Tears flew clear from his eyes, drops of blood oozing from his wounds going the same way. He couldn't believe what had just happened. His best friend, the Guardian, proud Thaileon, had just died in his arms.

Armundae had failed to protect him, and had only barely escaped with his own life.

It was high treason for the Captain to abandon his post, but with his dying words, Thaileon released him, pleading for Armundae to escape and protect his two children, little Hidama and Knuckles. Poor Armundae had been unable to find the boys, and was now forced to run for his life.

He was the last echidna left alive, and the one that these enemies wanted to kill the most.

His own sons, were the first descendents of both Arandor and Kashoku, one in the same before death, now one in the same in these twin boys. Armundae had to die.

"Faster you pathetic fools!" the UnDark Elemental cried. "Don't let him get away!"

Armundae was running out of time, and places to run. The edge of the island was now upon him. He stopped short, staring at the ground below him. He knew how to get down safely. He knew he could escape and run for Valordian Forest where his wife and twins sons were safe.

But...he couldn't.

"You have come to a crossroads, Armundae."

He turned around, although he didn't need to in order to place the voice with an owner.

"You cannot run to your wife and children. This is what they want you to do. It would be a great victory to have your head, the third child of Kashoku to die this night, and perhaps the most hated of them all before the Son of Strength alone, but to let you escape, and lead you to the two children Mukot wants dead above all others would be an even greater pleasure. You have only one choice now that does not result in death," the voice said.

Tears fell from Armundae's eyes. His many wounds stung him. His sword Akrenar fell from his hand, landing on the ground.

"Shadow...you told me this day would come. How can I simply flee into the wilds and abandon my family? I promised Thaileon I would protect his sons and my own...I..."

"I have rescued Hidama and Knuckles. No one can hurt them now. I am sworn to protect the sons of Kashoku. That is not your duty anymore Armundae," Shadow answered.

Armundae couldn't speak. Shadow approached him with a black cloak in his hands.

"You'll put this on, give me your weapons, and flee. You may look after your children, but never approach them. There will come a day when you can come back to them, but it is not now, nor is it any time soon. If you want to live, you must do this. You have no other choice anymore Armundae. Your wife and children must believe you are dead, for simply thinking of you in a positive manner will lead Mukot to believe you are still alive."

Armundae took the cloak from Shadow as he spoke. He gazed at it for a moment and asked, "How will he believe I am dead?"

"I will leave a substitute of you in your wake," Shadow said, "It will be enough to satisfy UnDark and Mukot, and will allow me to begin to clean up the mess here while I console the Princes. You will be on your own for now, but do not worry, I will come find you and tell you what to do next."

Still uncertain, Armundae put on the cloak and sniffed in an attempt to slow his tears. He handed Shadow the sheaths bearing his knives, Tempest and Twilight. "These are for Elianaron, be sure that he gets them," Armundae said. Picking up Akrenar, he returned it to its sheath and said, "This is for Aranelion...I promised it to him."

Shadow nodded, keeping a good hold on the precious weapons, heirlooms of Armundae's family. The shrieks got louder, and Shadow placed a hand on Armundae's shoulder, using his Dark Element to cure his wounds.

"Flee Armundae. Find a safe haven and wait for me. It is time for your next mission in this War of Light and Darkness to begin."

With a soft nod, Armundae turned and ran. Though his wounds were healed, his heart still bled.

He knew he wouldn't see his wife and sons again until many painful and lonely summers had passed. This was the last summer he would smile upon for a long time.

Of Winter...

"Hurry up you foolish heathens! Find the girl and capture her!" UnLight shouted.

The terrible Malevils cackled and shrieked as they ran up and down the back alleys of Starshine Town, searching for Neferine, the next pawn in Mukot's grand plan. He sent UnLight, his older son, to capture both her and her husband Domino, but ordered them to leave their twin sons, Zenith and Nadir, unharmed.

The Malevils simply had to chase Neferine down. UnLight was certain that Domino was trying in vain to hide their sons, only three years old. It was UnLight's mission to take him down.

Using his powers, UnLight tracked Domino's life force. He turned a corner, and found Domino crouched down and turned away from him, looking down at something below him, ready to protect it with his life.

"Come now Domino. You'll get to go with your wife. Mukot has no desire to capture your sons. He simply cannot allow you to live where you can eventually assist the competition," UnLight said.

Domino turned and glared at him. Jumping to his feet, Domino shouted, "Hell with you, whoever you are. I have no idea who your competition is, but I have no intention of helping anybody but myself and my family, and as far as I'm concerned, both sides in this equation of yours are causing us harm. I'll have all of you destroyed!"

UnLight laughed wildly, thrusting his hand towards Domino, capturing him in suspended animation. He threw Domino into the air before allowing gravity to send him crashing painfully into the pavement below.

As he reeled in pain, his face bleeding and his sunglasses cracked, UnLight approached him, picking him up by the jacket collar and glaring at him.

"So you say Domino, but I know who you really are. You are the Anti-Form of the proud captain Armundae, and Mukot needs you in order to nullify his power. If Shadow and those rats in alliance with him were to persuade you to help them, Mukot would have hell to pay. I simply cannot let you and your wife remain. Your rotten boys will have to fend for themselves," UnLight growled.

"Master UnLight! We've captured the girl!" one of the Warrior Malevils said.

"Neferine!" Domino cried.

UnLight dug his fingernails into Domino, allowing a paralyzing dark poison to enter him and weaken him. As Domino lost consciouness, UnLight smiled and continued, "Mukot has bigger plans for those brats. He'll come and lead them to believe their Anti-Forms are their enemies. They'll fight against the Light, and will ensure that Mukot wins this war. While you two are held prisoner, your sons will be two of the most important foot soldiers for the cause of Darkness. Thanks to them, Mukot will destroy this world and return it to the glorious Darkness that it was meant to be! Fwahahaha!"

Domino felt sick. He had no idea yet of how malicious these enemies really were, but felt his heart breaking when he realized they intended to use his precious sons for their cruel intentions. He and Neferine had wanted so much for them. Now, they could no longer protect them.

He looked back to the cardboard box he had hidden them in with a blanket to protect them from the cold.

"I'm...so sorry my boys," he prayed, losing coherence and ready to collapse, "Please, do not fall for the tricks these monsters will play. Find...whoever is out to protect this world, and help them...make sure...it never comes to the end these creatures want for us all. Please...my boys...find...Light..."

He collapsed.

UnLight turned to the Malevils, and they were ready to return to Blackfire with their prey.

How many winters would pass before Domino would see his boys again? Until he did, that cold, painful, and frozen night, would never end.

Heh, a lot of reading, but I loved the idea I had for the description.

Of Summer was obviously talking about Armundae. I actually wrote out more than I meant to...lol, with the progress I'm making you won't remember it.

Of Winter was written about Domino. Keep in mind, he and Neferine are capture four years before Angel Island is attacked.

Now, talking about the picture itself. Echidnas are so hard to get away from the Sega style...I still need to tweak it a bit. It's the lack of outer ears that really make it tough I think.

I changed Armundae's boots. They kinda echoed Amy's a bit with the stripe down the center so that had to go. Domino stayed the same. They both got necks and more "flowing" hair, and I tweaked Armundae's chest fur a bit.

Umm, yeah, and I made an attempt at a more chisled anatomy for these two ^.^;

Please...no crits. Unless you've got something positive to say that is. I don't wanna hear a single negative or supposed "helpful" word.

You see, I improve on my own. I see things I want to fix, and I fix them. I have plenty of people I already go to for advice...so...yeah, I don't need anymore. I already know who I want to ask for advice.

I realized today that Armundae and Domino have the same eye color...whoops XD
