Description "The Stories of Their Lives" Timeline
By: Jade Lightning, a.k.a. Inuyashas-hanyougirl

Timeline of events from Pre-Prologue to Post-Epilogue

Making a timeline of these events seemed difficult and even daunting at first, but is something I recognized as a necessity, especially in preparation for the complex events, histories, family trees, and battles of “Wars of Light and Darkness.”  One of the first challenges came in how I would label these events, obviously in chronological order, but still in need of the mark of years.  Because the Sonic the Hedgehog setting appears to have no label for their years besides the passing of seasons, I’ve decided to start my own labeling.  “Love, Duty, and Friendship” is the beginning of the story, but many events have happened that need placement before this occurs.

I decided that Year 1 would start when Kashoku, the creator of the Master Gems and the Seven Servers in my stories and also the first king of the echidnas, becomes leader of the echidna tribe.  Anything before this would be labeled in reverse order, counting back from Year 1.  For instance, Kashoku’s first appearance before the echidna tribe occurred approximately three years before he married Mitsukai, and approximately nineteen years before, upon the death of his father-in-law, he assumed leadership of the tribe.  Therefore, “Kashoku rescuing the echidnas for the first time” would be labeled, “Year 19 BK” or “Before Kashoku.”  What that means is, the time before Kashoku became king, unifying the echidnas for centuries, and through the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds, bringing to the world the greatest concentration of power it would survive to know.

The centuries before present day, or more appropriately, Olermere’s time as Captain of the Guardian, will remain largely obscure, save for the mention of the Battle for Power and the waning years of the echidna race.  Chronicling Olermere’s doings up until the first appearance of Shadow, approximately fifty years before the birth of Hidama and the rest of the cast, will be simpler, as his whereabouts, as well as Feldmort’s, as they concocted their plans for revenge are largely unknown.

After the chain of historic events is sorted, listing the events of the five stories and their follow-up, was much easier.  However, the years between “The Unending Journey of the Heart” and “For the Love of Eternity” as well as between “For the Love of Eternity” and “Until the End of Forever” have never been published; Therefore, many never-before-seen events, and some only shared with vague details, will find their way into this timeline.  I will also make a family tree of sorts, showing how these characters, their families, and the stories of their lives will intertwine, as will this timeline.

Finally, the end of this timeline will give you a glimpse into the world of “Wars of Light and Darkness.”  While the children of my fan kids are only represented by Pyro and Amarie’s son, Suta-Mikomi II, in this reality, in “Wars of Light and Darkness” this third generation will play more of a prominent role.  As of now, I will mention the order in which they are born, and even a name or two that you will see later on in my works.  Anyway, I hope you find this timeline as informative as it was helpful for me to write.

The Years of Kashoku and Pre-“Love, Duty, and Friendship”

Year 35 BK – Kashoku, first king of the echidnas is born to a couple of wandering
echidnas, estranged from the larger groups at some unknown date.

Year 33 BK – Dearou, later named Mitsukai by her husband, King Kashoku, is born
to the leader of the sea cliffs echidna tribe, though he is not called
                     king.

Year 22 BK – At the age of 13, Kashoku loses his parents in an attack.  Later it is
discovered that they were killed by the same enemies of the echidna
                     tribe.

Year 19 BK – Aged 16, and a master of the secret martial art techniques of his
father’s lineage, Kashoku rescues some echidna warriors from an
attack.  After the battle, he collapses, and is brought back to the sea
cliff village.  While recovering in the home of the village leader, he
meets Dearou, who is watching over him.  He immediately falls in love
with her, naming her Mitsukai, his “angel of light,” a name she takes
and keeps, as she falls in love with him.

Year 16 BK – After bonding with Mitsukai, her father, and winning over the hearts
of the entire tribe, Kashoku marries Mitsukai.  They start the wedding
traditions that are handed down through the generations.

Year 1 BK – As Mitsukai’s father’s health slowly deteriorates, he names Kashoku,
who he treats like a son, the first high king of the echidnas, declaring
it is Kashoku who will bring the echidnas to the height of their power,
and bring the first lights of glory to their heritage.

Year 1 – Upon the death of his father-in-law, Kashoku becomes the first king of the
echidnas, and Mitsukai his queen.  As she grieves the passing of her
father, Kashoku plans to use his special powers to create the most
powerful expression of his love eternity would ever know, the Master
Emerald, and the Seven Chaos Emeralds, and their sister gems, the
Master Jewel, and the Seven Spirit Jewels.

Year 5 – After Mitsukai chose the colors for the Seven Chaos Emeralds, Kashoku
finished them.  As part of his plan to bring structure to his tribe, the
echidna king appoints the first seven village elders, one for each chaos
emerald.  Each elder was named the wielder of their appointed chaos
emerald, should the need to return the power of the Master to the Seven
arise.  As the years passed, the Village Elders became the ruling body of
the echidna tribe.  While the final decisions and central leadership
remained in the hands of the Guardian, that is, the descendents of
Kashoku, the Elders would make sure order was maintained.  This was so
the Guardian could focus entirely on his duty.

Year 6 – Sutei-Midoka, son of Kashoku and Mitsukai, is born.

Year 9 – Alamalie, daughter of Kashoku and Mitsukai, is born.

Year 23 – At the age of seventeen, Sutei-Midoka is named the new Guardian of the
Master Emerald.  This sets up the tradition of the new Guardian being
sworn in to the position upon reaching the age of seventeen, the age
                of manhood.

Year 25 – Before his daughter assumes Guardianship of the Master Jewel,
Kashoku, still continuing his work of bringing the echidnas to the height
of their power and glory, seeks out the inhabitants of a nearby
hedgehog kingdom.  While they are still living in a fashion similar to the
echidnas before Kashoku’s rise to power, the echidna king wants to
forge an alliance with them, for both races share a common enemy.  He
offers to them the Seven Chaos Emeralds as a sign of this partnership.

Year 26 – At the same age as her brother, Alamalie takes up the Guardianship of
the Master Jewel.  While the tribe separates centuries later in the Battle
for Power, both sides take the customs surrounding the Guardianship
with them when they set up their own kingdoms.

Year 30 – This year begins the first great wars since the record of time began.
Kashoku, leading the echidna warriors, and the leader of the hedgehogs
leading his own soldiers, begin to strike back against their persecutors,
the same ones that killed Kashoku’s parents, and attacked both tribes
                for decades.

Year 31 – During these war-torn years, Sutei-Midoka, now twenty-five, now
marries in the same traditions and customs as his father and mother
                were wed under.

Year 32 – Only one year after her brother marries his wife, Alamalie marries as
                well.

Year 37 – The first child of Sutei-Midoka, a son, is born.  It is at this time that the
war led by Kashoku and the hedgehog army reaches the peak of its
                ferocity.

Year 42 – The only child of Alamalie, a daughter, is born.

Year 45 – Just in time for the birth of his third grandchild, and second
granddaughter, Kashoku returns home, the battle won.  The hedgehog
and echidna tribes now live in peace, their alliance preserved for years
to come.  For the next thirty five years, the echidnas live in a utopia of
                peace and prosperity.

Year 80 – Mitsukai, after giving Kashoku a son and daughter, and ruling beside
him for nearly one-hundred years, dies at the age of one-hundred
thirteen.  Her funeral, just like her marriage, starts the customs involved
with burying the wife of the Guardian.  Heartbroken, Kashoku spends
the time he has left, giving final instruction to the Village Elders, his
followers, and his children.  It should also be known that Kashoku
buried the Spirit Jewels with Mitsukai, although the Master Jewel would
remain under the Guardianship of his daughter and her descendents,
while the Master Emerald is passed on to his son’s bloodline.

Year 82 – Two years after the death of his wife, King Kashoku passes away at the
age of one-hundred seventeen.  With his death, the greatest Guardian,
King, and Leader of the echidna tribe passes away.  He is forever
remembered for bringing to the echidnas, the lifestyle, values, virtues,
power, and glory that brought them the title of The Master Race.

Year 85 – Kashoku and Mitsukai’s son, Sutei-Midoka, at the age of seventy-nine,
begins to set up a few more key traditions that would survive the test of
time for the echidna tribe.  After his son took the Guardianship of the
Master Emerald, Sutei-Midoka declares that the firstborn son, in the
event of two sons being born to a Guardian, would inherit the
Guardianship from his father.  As opposed to his sister’s rules for the
Master Jewel, where she decreed only her female descendents would
become Guardians, and a son only in the event of no daughters being
born, Sutei-Midoka proclaimed the Guardianship belonged to only his
male descendents.  However, in the same way as his sister, he also
agreed there would be an exception should there be no male heirs.

It is during and long after the rule of Sutei-Midoka, his sister Alamalie, and their spouses that the echidna tribe lives in complete peace and prosperity.  The tribe is completely self-sufficient, but continues to mingle with the neighboring hedgehog tribe, which they formed an alliance with.  With their enemies thwarted, there is rarely a need for the warriors to be called to arms.  And so the echidnas and all life prosper for years, finding peace in unity, just as Kashoku had intended

This peace would not go unchallenged however.  While this dome of prosperity and virtue covers the world, dissent begins to brew in the echidna tribe.  After many generations, two distant grandsons of Sutei-Midoka stand to defend the Master Emerald, and one distant granddaughter remained to protect the Master Jewel in the name of her distant grandmother Alamalie.

The tribe had already begun to split; followers of Sutei-Midoka’s distant grandsons practiced physical prowess, the same techniques Kashoku brought to the tribe.  Alamalie’s distant granddaughter, and her followers, preferred to practice the psychic and elemental side of Kashoku’s power.  Over time, the far-separated cousins both began to desire power for the entire clan, and so the seeds for the Battle for Power were sown.

Year 1263 – The reigning descendents of Kashoku, all in their late twenties, have
the first, of many, arguments between them.  His distant grandsons,
standing together in the name of their ancient father and
grandfather, demand full and unchallenged power over the echidna
tribe.  While they acknowledge the Master Jewel is an heirloom to
their great and many times removed grandmother, Alamalie, they
point out that the echidna tribe was not meant to be divided, but
unified under Kashoku’s rule.  They accuse their distant cousin of
defying this by refusing to work with them in ruling the tribe.
Kashoku’s distant granddaughter counters by accusing them of the
same, arguing that the fact that Sutei-Midoka was the older of
Kashoku’s children is why they feel the need to take sole power of the
tribe.  With no resolution, the chaos grows.

Year 1265 – After two years of constant bickering both on their time and in front of
the tribe, the distant grandchildren of Kashoku and Mitsukai reach the
breaking. Both sides convinced that they alone maintain the purest
and closest ties to their royal ancestor, separated after generations,
they demand that the other, lesser descendent(s), relinquish not only
their Master Gem, but also renounce any ties or heritage to Kashoku
fully and permanently.  When neither side gives in, the Battle for
Power begins and continues for two years as the followers of the
grandsons and the granddaughter pick their sides, and live on
opposing ends of their territory, battling each other on and off over
time, the grandsons using physical combat, and the granddaughter
her special powers, psychic, telekinetic, and elemental.

Year 1267 – After driving the echidna tribe apart and almost destroying them, the
Battle for Power finally comes to an end, in the most terrible way
possible.  In one of the now regular battles between them, the
distant granddaughter of Kashoku kills one of the grandsons to
survive him.  The battle ends as the remaining grandson holds his
brother’s body in disbelief.  In a grief-filled rage, he allows his distant
cousin to keep the heirloom of her family, but at the same time,
banishes her, the Master Jewel, and all of her followers from the sea
cliff village forever.  The echidna tribe is now severed, and severely
weakened.  The granddaughter and her followers take the Master
Jewel and with it raise Spirit Island into the sky on the other side of
                    the globe.

Year 1268 – In the wake of the death of their father, the surviving grandson
names his two nephews Captains of the Guardian.  This would start
the House of the Captains.  The two brothers and their descendents,
becoming distant cousins with the passing of generations, would rule
beside their increasingly distant cousin, the Guardian.  From this point
on, two Captains would stand beside the Guardian, one at a time,
allowing the Guardian time to spend with his family, while the
Captains looked after the Master Emerald in his stead.  It is from
these two brothers that Olermere and Feldmort, and later Aranelion
and Elianaron, would later descend, each pair of brothers coming from
different family trees, sharing a common ancestor in the fallen
                    grandson of Kashoku.

Year 1340 – At the age of one-hundred seven, the surviving grandson dies,
leaving his son, the Guardian, and his two nephews, the Captains, to
rule over the now splintered echidna tribe.  The cousins feel the
emptiness, and the heartaches of their fathers’ generation haunts
them.  Because of this, they decide to leave the home of their
ancestors, Kashoku’s once glorious sea cliff kingdom, in search for a
new home.  In the same way as Kashoku’s distant granddaughter,
they use the Master Emerald to raise Angel Island to the sky.
Unbeknownst to either of the echidna tribes, the floating islands lay
on polar opposite sides of the planet, still linked together as they
were when Kashoku created them.  It was a link that would ultimately
destroy the echidnas forever, for the Master Gems affected each
other deeply.  When one fell, the other was soon to follow.  On their
own, they would wreak torturous havoc on both tribes, and bewitch
many more with their terrible power.

In the centuries after the echidna tribe separated and raised both Angel and Spirit Islands into the sky, the Master Gems, though separated, remained connected, thus aligning the two islands on opposite sides of the globe.  The echidna tribes would never come together again, but flourished on their own, still maintaining the traditions started by Kashoku and his two children, but at the same time cultivated their own unique lifestyles.

The echidnas of Angel Island remained closer to their ancestral home in the sea cliffs, and like the echidnas of Spirit Island, found they could use the power of their Master Gem to beckon the floating island to travel.  While this allowed for greater freedom, the Master Gems still ensured that both islands remained as closely aligned as their Guardians would allow them.  While the Guardians could not control, or even recognize this occurrence, they still had the power to move their islands where they wanted, and so the islands were not always perfectly aligned.  After being moved, the islands would slowly, very slowly, move to line up again, too gradual to be noticed or challenged.

While the Spirit Island echidnas would remained isolated until their downfall, the Angel Island echidnas still continued to mingle with the hedgehogs they formed an alliance with.  The echidnas had protection from attacks in Angel Island, but they wouldn’t desert their friends, and thus as the hedgehogs rose to similar power like that of the echidnas, and they would often call for aid.  The echidnas would always rise to their defense, and yet over the years to present day, this alliance, would begin to dissolve.

One of the primary explanations for this is that as the hedgehogs gained more power, and more humans came to build cities and civilizations that there was little to no warfare, and thus no need for aid from the echidnas.  It is said that both sides slowly forgot the alliance, save the hedgehogs of Valordian, who were often in the shadow of Angel Island when it was anchored over land.  The Valordian hedgehogs didn’t rise to modern times, just as the echidnas didn’t, but still counted on the alliance when they needed help.  This would sour their opinion of echidnas one day, proving pivotal in the lives of the last survivors of the house of the Captains.

However, two-hundred years before then, a different Captain and his brother would have an even longer lasting effect on the echidna tribe.  This would prove to be the true beginning of the end for the Angel Island echidnas, and this entire race, save a blessed few, and a sign of dark times to come in its wake.

Year 1757 – After colonizing Angel Island nearly four-hundred years earlier, the
echidnas have almost forgotten the fact that the original tribe was
ever separated, and have settled in to peaceful times, living as their
ancestors did for centuries before the Battle for Power.  It is this false
sense of security that will make what happens even more shocking.
One of the Captains of the Guardian, named Olermere, begins to
crave the power of the Master Emerald, something he swore
alongside the Guardian, a now distant relation, to give his life to
protect.  Torn between being loyal to his tribe and the Guardian, who
is his best friend, and the power, the Master Emerald proves to be a
treasure too great to ignore.  He begins to plot how he can take the
power for himself, and realizes his best option, as the older of the
two Captains, will be to kill the Guardian.  Both childless and an only
child, if the Guardian were to die, the Guardianship would be passed
to Olermere, while his younger brother, Feldmort, would become the
new Captain.  Still, Olermere could not yet find the strength to murder
his best friend, and over the next months tried to psych himself up for
                    the grizzly task.

Year 1758 – A year after Olermere first hatched his plan to obtain the power of the
Master Emerald, the Guardian, still unaware of his best friend’s
corruption, confides in Olermere, telling him he plans to have his first
child soon.  While Olermere feigns happiness for his friend, on the
inside, he is thrown into panic.  If the Guardian had a child, even if his
wife was still pregnant at the time of his death, the Guardianship
would automatically go to his child, even if it meant Olermere would
be a Ruling Captain until the child turned seventeen.  Olermere could
not imagine killing a child, and resolved that the Guardian simply had
to die immediately.  The night after that conversation, Olermere stood
guarding the Master Emerald while the Guardian slept.  He waited
patiently for the Guardian’s return, running the plan for his murder
over and over in his head.  He would simply push the Guardian off the
edge of the Altar.  If the fall did not kill him, his spear, thrown at him
from above would finish the job.  This way, Olermere could claim that
while falling, the Guardian’s spear flew out of his hands, into the air,
only to fatally pierce him upon landing.

This was the first time since the Battle for Power that any echidna had the desire to kill one of his brethren.  The Battle for Power saw only one casualty, the death of Olermere’s ancestor, and since then the echidnas only had to deal with death by natural causes.  Thankfully, this trend wouldn’t have to change on this night.  When he tried to push the Guardian to his death, as he anticipated, the Guardian, though injured, survived the fall.  However, Olermere was unable to get the Guardian’s spear, and simply could not use his own, for then the murder could be pinned on him easily.  The spear had landed at the bottom of the stairs, falling down them when the two echidnas struggled with each other.  Olermere ran for it, but so did the Guardian, and while he had to drag along a broken leg, he managed to arrive there at the same time as Olermere.

The two were locked in a battle after this, and while the Guardian was injured, he proved to be the stronger of the two.  While holding Olermere off, preventing him from grabbing the spear, he yelled for help, and within seconds, the fight was over.  The echidnas were stunned.  They had never had the need for trial and punishment, and so for the moment, they confined Olermere to his home while they treated the Guardian’s wounds and discussed what should be done.

At the same time, Olermere spoke to his brother Feldmort of these events and his true intentions.  He began to awake similar desires in Feldmort’s heart, and so the two of them, now furious at the Guardian, decided to try once more to steal the Master Emerald.  Later into the night, only an hour until dawn, they overpowered and knocked the echidnas guarding them unconscious and ran for the Altar.  Nearly killing the other Captain by pushing him down the stone stairs, they both moved to seize the Master Emerald, unaware of the command Kashoku instilled in it to perform should it be directly threatened.

A massive wave of radiation expelled from the gem, hitting Olermere and Feldmort instantly.  In pushing the Captain down the stairs, they saved him and his linage, which one day would produce Aranelion and Elianaron.  Olermere and Feldmort however, were poisoned, body, mind and soul by this wave.  It began to increase their size, morphing them into these dreadful, mutant-like creatures, hardly appearing as echidnas anymore.  It would also increase their lifespan for whatever reason, which would come back to haunt the echidnas later, in wake of how they chose to deal with the situation.

After nearly killing the Guardian and the other Captain and trying to steal the Master Emerald, Olermere earned exile from Angel Island.  In trying to help his brother seize the Master Gem, and contributing to the attempted murder of the Captain, Feldmort met the same fate as his brother.  Blindfolded, the mutated echidnas were led hundreds of leagues from their home, all the way to the Thornrush Mountains, and abandoned.  This way, it would take them many years in order to relocate Angel Island, and by this time, they would die, or so the echidnas thought.  What they didn’t know, is that Olermere and Feldmort, though mutated and ugly, now had a life expectancy up to three times longer than the other echidnas.  Instead of immediately returning to Angel Island, however, the brothers decided to plan revenge, which they would take out on, not the echidnas of their generation, but the ones barely eight generations later.

They would have forgotten the mutant brothers by then, again, assuming death took them in the Thornrush Mountains.  Olermere was replaced by his cousin, who was still a member of the House of the Captains.  Peace returned to Angel Island, and for the next eight generations, it would remain unchallenged, at least, until the lives of this newest generation began their own stories.

Year 1931 – Under unknown circumstances, Shadow the Hedgehog first appears.

Year 1939 – The father of Hinsei Hidama and Knuckles is born.

Year 1941 – Captain Armundae, father of Aranelion and Elianaron is born.

Year 1940 – Lady Aerealei, mother of Aranelion and Elianaron is born.

Year 1960 – After coming under the heat of the Village Elders countless times for
not seeking to form a relationship with any maiden, Armundae is
given a two week leave by the Guardian to travel to the Northern
Kingdom.  It is hoped that Captain Armundae with find someone he
can settle down with, since it is extremely important that he leave an
heir to succeed him.  However, he travels first to nearby Valordian
Forest, this vacation time giving him freedom to at last explore the
woods.  It is here that he first meets Lady Aerealei, a member of the
Valordian Village tribe of hedgehogs, who hold anger towards the
echidnas for the dissolved alliance.  Knowing this, Aerealei brings him
to a cabana on the edge of Valordian Lake where she stays with him.
Over the next two weeks they explore the forest together, and by
the end of Armundae’s stay, the two admit love for each other, with
Armundae swearing to come back to her and somehow find a way
that they can make their relationship permanent.  Over the last few
months of this year, Armundae sneaks away to see her when he can,
refraining from telling the Guardian about it, in the fear that it will not
be understood, and therefore forbidden to be.

Year 1962 – Near the beginning of the year, the Guardian announces that he and
his wife are expecting their first child.  In light of this, and the fact
that the other Captain already had one child of his own, the pressure
is put on Armundae, as the Village Elders grow even more impatient
with him.  Even the Guardian expresses concern, with the birth of his
child a little over a month away.  However, when he talks to
Armundae about this, the Captain grows defensive, yells at his friend,
and runs away to see Aerealei.  It is on this this visit that their twins
are conceived, and after healing his relationship with the echidnas,
the Guardian promises to help bring Aerealei into the tribe.  However,
shortly after Hinsei Hidama is born in May, Armundae learns that
Aerealei is pregnant and now exiled to the edge of the woods by her
kin, who, unlike the echidnas, will not accept her relationship with
Armundae.  After receiving aid from the echidnas, Aerealei is able to
live comfortably until the twins, Aranelion and Elianaron, are born mid
August of that year.  Also, Camillia Starr the Cat is born in LaFay
Lakes around a month later in late September.

Year 1963 – Delilah Lynn the Hedgehog, and later Hannah the Squirrel, are born.

Year 1964 – This year, Knuckles, the second son of the Guardian, is born.  Also, in
the same year, Rouge the Bat is born.

Year 1965 – Sonic the Hedgehog is born this year and in her home galaxy, Blaze the Cat
is born to the King and Queen of her people.  She will later become the
                     Guardian of the Sol Emeralds.

Year 1966 –  Amy Rose is born this year.

I have mentioned several times in the past that for the sake of the events in my story, I have made Amy two years older than she is in the official series, making her a year younger than Sonic, and now only two years younger than Knuckles.  I have kept everyone else at their regular ages.  So, when Knuckles is 16, she is 14.  Again everyone else is at the regular, official, ages.  On a side note, pregnancy lasts for five months but can vary by a few weeks for different species, and hybrids.

Year 1970 – This year would see the revenge planned by Olermere and Feldmort
over the past two-hundred years for their treatment in the past,
carried out.  While Olermere attacked the echidnas of the Northern
Kingdom, Feldmort struck the Angel Island tribe.  The echidnas were
wiped out in the Northern Kingdom; the Angel Island tribe faired
better.  Hidama, though kidnapped by the mutants, would survive, as
would his little brother Knuckles, who was hidden safely in a bush.
The sons of Armundae would survive as well for Aranelion and
Elianaron were safe in Valordian with their mother, helping her tend
the Fall harvest.  It is this attack that initiates many of the major
events that will unfold in the lives of those involved.

On a side note, I mentioned that the Master Gems affected each other, and the attack on Angel Island was not exempt from this.  However, since the events of Spirit Island are not covered in this story, I will simply make a brief reference to the events that occurred there, as they will be covered in another tale.  I’ll point out that most of this timeline will be reused in that story up to this point, all except for the lives of Olermere and Feldmort and them being responsible for the attacks.  When Angel Island is attacked, the bond between the Masters is severed, but not before it triggers an attack on the Master Jewel and the tribe that guard it, causing Angel Island to crash onto the mainland, and Spirit Island to fall into the sea.

Year 1971 – While Angel Island remains relatively unnoticed on the mainland, after
being combed over in a fruitless search for the Master Emerald,
Knuckles, now seven years old, has managed to bury all of the dead,
and continue living on his own, while trying to learn the ways of the
Guardian so he can raise Angel Island into the sky again.  It is this
summer that Amy and her parents are visiting this region outside of
Station Square, on vacation.  While a five-year-old Amy explores the
area, she runs into Knuckles as he cleans up litter thrown onto the
outskirts of the island by picnickers.  They develop a friendship that
will last a lifetime, and plays a major role in the lives of everyone
including those close to them, and millions more they will never know.

Year 1972 – Miles Prower, known by the nickname Tails, is born.

Year 1974 – Cream the Bunny is born.

With the birth of Cream, the final link in this all-important circle of friends is born.  Though disconnected for now, they will be brought together in the years to come, and united in bonds they will share forever.  Over these years, Amy and Knuckles see each other on and off.  While it is not the strongest friendship yet, it is one they are both determined to keep alive, which is what starts the first “part” of this story, the need for them to always be friends.

Over these years, the Brokenstar Twins wander the wilds in search for acceptance and revenge for their fallen kindred.  At the same time Hidama is beaten and tortured in Feldmort’s prisons.  Rouge develops a love for treasure hunting and finally meets Shadow on one of these journeys.  Shadow, while trying to find his purpose in life, not only meets Rouge, but also Hinsei Hidama, and after discovering the link he has with Knuckles, another echidna he knows well by that point, his desire to reunite the brothers brings the next events of this story into play.

Sonic forms a friendship with Tails, who idolizes him, and with Knuckles they form a team to take on Dr. Robotnik, a.k.a. Dr. Eggman, whenever he gives them trouble.  Shadow and Rouge have their own alliance, and so do Amy and Cream, who eventually meet and become friends.  In LaFay Lakes, Camillia and Delilah are best friends, while Hannah, who lives in Starshine Town, dreams of one day becoming a nurse.  Blaze, while separated from the others for now, will be brought to them in events that occur shortly before this story takes place, allowing her to meet them, but more importantly, meet Sonic, although for now they do not know the exact importance their lives will play someday.

And so, after so many adventures, life has settled down for everyone.  Now sixteen, Knuckles finds himself alone once more, wishing he kept up with the others better.  He wishes he kept up with Amy better more than anything.  Unknown to him, however, is Amy wishes she had done the same with him.  It is this desire in both their hearts, the need to keep their friendship alive…that begins “Love, Duty, and Friendship.”

Now that I vented a bit, I'll explain any discrepancies...

After five parts and a follow-up I was sure everyone had noticed that Amy was older than she is in the series. Infact, I've made countless references in this timeline alone that I made her three years older for the sake of the story. If I didn't, she'd be 14 when she had Mikomi. I also made Knuckles seventeen for the sake of the story. Rouge is already seventeen in the series, but I decided I wanted to make Knuckles older than her, again, for the sake of the story. I still have it so Sonic was born before Amy to make up for making her so much older.

In the future I won't mess with ages, but with so much going wrong, the discrepancies of a fan fiction aren't high on my stress level list.

...I'm sorry but I haven't been feeling well at all the past couple of weeks...and I know no one cares.

I know...but I don't feel like anyone does. I'm surrounded by apathy.

That doesn't mean I should take it out on my friends. Just goes to prove how foolish I am for thinking I deserve someone wonderful like Aaron.

I'm surprised you weren't expecting that...that I messed with ages.

To be honest the only official birthdates I could remember were Knuckles' and Amy's...well...no, I also remembered Sonic's was some time in the summer...eh...I was too lazy to look it up. Anyway I can always go back and fix it.

This was a pain in the ass to put together...and with stress levels going through the roof I'm surprised there's not more wrong with it.

No, I'm sorry...I shouldn't be talking like this. Your confusion was innocent enough.

I just hate me right now. I've found that with each passing week, making the trek up to Raleigh to see my brother is getting more and more stressful. I feel like I don't want to go, then scold myself for being selfish, and say, "And you think you deserve someone like Aaron and you can't even be there for family." Matt had a bruise when we saw him a couple weekends ago, and then my mom broke down, and Dad and I couldn't do anything to help, so he sat and watched tv all day and I tried to block it all out with music. Now they're looking for a group home for him and I just...I feel ready to break.

Then the Lord of the Rings trilogy plays all weekened on TNT and I feel my heart breaking just trying to watch it because all I can think about is how Aaron and I, barely knowing each other at that first party, the minute I said I loved the trilogy, his eyes lit up and we were inseparable. I don't know why he won't call me back, and I...I don't know. I feel damaged beyond repair. I can't even be strong for myself, and here I am wanting to be strong for Aaron. It's hopeless.

Nope I should be sorry... Because It's your story and you can do what you want with it and thats pretty cool what your doing with it.

Anyways I hope and pray things will get better for you and your family.

If you say so sis...I did overreact at first and I apologize. Thank you for being so understanding...I'm not an easy person to deal with all the time I know I'm feeling a little better I guess...still stressed out and everything.

I'm glad to hear that ^^ there's more to come, hopefully it'll clear up confusion. My storylines can be very deep and intricate and I realize they needed something like this to keep the facts straight.
