I know I said I wouldn't do it, but while reading over WoLaD today I couldn't resist. I had a picture in mind for Shadow, and simply had to try drawing him in my Anthro style. However, because he's not mine, I'm still calling it fan art.

Anyway, I was reading the part where Shadow and Arandor are about to leave for Eries for the first time and their Goldenstar companions, Starla and Taura, come trying to stop them from going. I mention in the story that Starla is Arandor's main companion. She is a Goldenstar, one that has grown up along beside him along with many as his rank of stars. She's close to him like Twinkle and Starwin are to Kalak.

Taura is Shadow's close companion. She's named after the Zodiac Constellation, Taurus, and I think it's fitting since Shadow has a stubborn streak, like Taurus babies tend to have. Anyway, this is the scene I based the picture on.

Arandor and Shadow had just reached the portal when they heard the Goldenstars crying for them. They stopped and watched as Starla and Taura flew towards them. The Dark Elemental glanced at his friend, both of them with grins on their faces, before they both shook their heads and let out a sigh.

“Taura, Starla, you two are worried over nothing,” Shadow said calmly, “Arandor and I will be back before Father even knows we’re gone. He and I can handle ourselves just fine. We’re adults now. We don’t need Father to babysit us anymore.”

Little Taura sighed; she landed on Shadow’s shoulder, kneeling on it as she pleaded with him. “ Please Master Shadow. What are we supposed to tell Master Kalak if he discovers that you’re missing?”

With a grin and a laugh Arandor answered, “Tell him you don’t know a thing!”

Starla, landing on Arandor’s shoulder in the same way Taura now rested on Shadow’s, cried out, “But Master Arandor! He knows everything! He’ll know if we’re lying! What can we do?”

Arandor and Shadow looked to each other, rolling their eyes as they smiled. They gently took Taura and Starla off of their shoulders, and carefully sitting them on a bench nearby, Arandor replied, “Then you have nothing to worry about! If he already knows where we are, he’ll have no need to ask you.”

“Indeed,” Shadow added, “And if he really knows everything, then he’d be here already stopping us from going.”

The Goldenstars glanced at each other, sickened because they knew there would be no changing the minds of these rebellious youths they called, “Master.”

Now, when I posted a picture of the Elderstars, I mentioned they were the only rank that existed at the time. Here's the picture: [link]

All star spirits look roughly the same, but you can see two big differences between Taura here, and Twinkle from that picture. The big silver star Twinkle and Elderstar girls wear is golden on Goldenstars, while the Gold star above the Elderstars' eyes is silver on the Goldenstars. The silver collar on the Elderstars' dress is golden on the Goldenstars'. The same changes apply to the males as well.

I made Taura smaller in scale to Shadow. Elderstars reach a height of one foot by the time they are full grown. Taura, Starla, and the Goldenstars are the same age as Shadow and Arandor, eighteen at this point, so Taura has not reached her full height, which is why she looks so small here.

The Goldenstars aren't as powerful as the Elderstars for obvious reasons, but are essentially the children of the Elderstars, despite the fact that they're born from starlight and mythical flames. They answer to the Elderstars as their parents, elders, teachers, and leaders. They try their best to protect Shadow and Arandor, but when it comes to having to answer to the Elderstars and Kalak, they have no power yet, just like Arandor and Shadow don't.

However, they're willing to go beyond what they recognize as respect if it means they can protect Arandor and Shadow.

Anyway, Shadow is giving Taura that look of, "Not again, we've just been through this. You're worried over nothing, you silly girl."

I called this "Young Shadow and Taura" for obvious reasons. Again, Shadow is only 18 at this point, and so he hasn't gone through the transformations that harden him, weather him, and make him somewhat gruff. He's still youthful and rather wreckless; just your average teenager trying to squeeze what they can out of their last years as a child.

If this Shadow was the one that Kashkie and the others got to meet, they'd be convinced he wasn't the real deal. He might as well be the present day Shadow's anti-form, which is really rather sad. It goes to show just how much he suffers, and how much that pain takes a toll on his spirit. He does it all out of love for Arandor, in memory of him, and in reverence to Kalak and the Light that saved him.

Shadow's quite the hero isn't he? ^^

But yeah, that blue coloring around Taura is her starlight. All star spirits have it, and it changes color to reflect their mood. Obviously, Taura is not that happy here XD

Taura the Goldenstar belongs to me, as do the Star Spirits (Elderstars and Goldenstars), Arandor, Kalak, and WoLaD (Wars of Light and Darkness).
