HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATHAN!!!! ok so i'm early, his b-day is the 5th, but this is a present for my dear husband. he requested i draw a hippogriff. here she is. just for him.
to for the sky. 
i couldn't find a suitable working tutorial for it, so he made me one

Sweet! Great job on combining the horse and eagle anatomies. The hippogriff looks so smooth and solid! I could never do that. I like the pose and the shine on the tail as well.

yeh 3 days! photoshop is soooooooo slow on my computer
nathan did get it tog o faster, but it's still slow

okay..sigh fine.. here's a bigger one....
The colouring of the body is done real well. and i particularly like the part where the head attaches with the body. however there are somethings that you can do that might make the picture look more realistic. Such as. you see the butt of the thing.. it's too bright. at the end of the light area should be a small but visible area that is darker. just to show that the image isn't only 2 dimesional. but three. (or to show that there is more to the pictuere than what is shown)
and there's somthing about the beak that bothers me. I don't quite know what. but there is somtihng with the inside of the beak that doesn't look natural at all for me. But mmm.,.... i have to say. that background is really impressive. i don't know how you did that. but it's looks hella good. so yea..

that's better! yeh the beak is wrong. i chose the wrong sketch ( i sketched like 6 eagle heads) to trace and color. not sure if i understand the shading highlighting commnet. but i'll tr anyway

go look at a sphere. put light on it. even the side where the light hits, there is a line where there is shadows. that show you that it is 3-d.

Alll you have to do is ask and ill make any kind of sky you want ^_^

i kinda like how it is, almost like you can just veiw the clearness of the sky between the clouds and ocean. TY!!!! you rock at backgrounds, one of these days i'm gonna have to add up how many of them you've done for me.
