Description And now we come to the middle-child of the original Primes, one who is all about bringing things together.

Meet Nexus Prime, seventh-born of Primus, and most notably, the first and greatest combiner, as well as the guardian of rarified energon.  Known as the "Wizard of Forms," Nexus was all about change and mutability.  With him is his personal artifact, the Enigma of Combination, a seemingly mystical device with which he's able to merge any robots together to create new combined forms.  He can also separate himself into multiple, independent components.  When he's standing alone, his body will seem to shift or be overlaid with ever-changing forms or combinations he makes of himself.

Powerful, proud, and frequently unpredictable even to those who knew him best, Nexus Prime was also full of good humor and can even be a bit of a prankster at times. He was the "mad experimenter" of the original Primes and is fascinated by changing states of matter and the creation of new elements in solar forges. This shared affinity for creation led Solus Prime, the "Maker" of the Thirteen, to have special feelings for Nexus, which in turn seemed to have earned him the enmity of Megatronus and Liege Maximo.

As said above, Nexus separated himself into multiple, independent components, and scattered them.  In his multiversal singularity incarnation, his components comprised of these gentlebots:
1. Skyfall, an Autobot hailing from Velocitron in the "Transformers: Cybertron" universe.
2. Landquake, a "Shattered Glass" Decepticon scientist.
3. Breakaway, an Autobot hailing from the Marvel Classics universe.
4. Topspin, a G2 Decepticon technician.
5. Heatwave, a "Shattered Glass" Decepticon engineer

In the Aligned Continuity, his components were these guys:
1. Clocker, a Velocitronian engineer
2. Mainspring, a Velocitronian mechanic
3. Chaindrive, a Cybertronian Autobot
4. Pinion, a scrap trader from Junkion
5. Cannonspring, an unaffiliated dude who was knocked offline on Junkion for centuries

For this, I used some of Optimus Prime as a basis, but more or less worked from scratch on a lot of it.  Also, just a little funny fact about me, but I'm the kind of guy who'll listen to the same song on repeat, and the song I was listening to while doing this? Queen and David Bowie's "Under Pressure."

Up next, we'll get the Animated version of the original Beast-former himself, Onyx Prime.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.  Ciao!

It’s nice to look back on the original TFA edits of the prime’s and comparing them with the newer genderbent version, you can the difference in the shading and colors.

This is very well done. I love how you incorporated the idea of the Enigma of Combination into the story.

Thanks, and in no small part thanks to IDW and the Covenant of Primus book, the Enigma is probably Nexus' most well-known artifact.  After all, IDW had a tie-in comic story for the "Combiner Wars" toy line that centered around everyone's attempts at reclaiming it.  There's also the version of it shown in the "Combiner Wars" cartoon from Machinima, but I think that show's quality left a bad taste in everybody's mouth.

If you were to do a version of Nexus, what would you do?

Also, it occurred to me, and this is purely an accidental coincidence, but I noticed that Nexus here has the same color scheme as Zeta Prime from the "War for Cybertron" game.

I see and that in his toy was just a recolor of Bruticus from Energon.

I'm not really sure. Maybe a few bots and cons that have tank and jet forms.

Nah not really. Zeta Prime is mostly orange and blue. Most blue.

I think his toy incorporated recolored toys from multiple combiners in Energon, but I see what you mean.  After all, recolors are par for the course in Transformers.

I guess time will tell, eh?

True, he was mostly blue, although the lighting used in the pictures of him and what have you seemed to give off a gold tint with a few red highlights, at least from my perspective anyway.

And I guess you didn't mind the music choice?

Yes, that's true.

Time will tell, sure.

Yeah, the red high lights but I don't really see the orange like Zeta Prime.
Yours is like Peach from my point of view.

No I don't mind. When I'm making any Transformers characters I listen to the soundtrack
of Transformers Armada: Prelude to Energon the video game. It's TF Armada the video game.
Very catchy and worth listening to if I'm making any TF characters.

I'll have to look that one up.

For the Onyx Prime pic, I'm listening to these two songs:
1. Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever"
2. David Bowie's "Heroes"

I think that when the time comes and I've completed the whole list of the Original Primes, I'll listen to Queen's "Princes of the Universe."  That's mainly because these characters are rather important to TF lore, after all, wouldn't you agree?

Okay cool.

That's a nice selection. I'd go for 80's music too
either disco or electro rock kind or slow songs.

I think it's very fitting considering how they ruled the
Cybertronians. Makes a lot of sense.
