Description
Maybe two of my most favourite Marvel characters (evident in my other deviations). I was supposed to draw something female but i'd leave it that next time. It was supposed to be just a doodle but got carried away. So it took me more than three hours overall. Pencils on B4 bristol paper.I don't mind if someone would want to ink this one (I got some requests lately for my other pencils). You can download the original size (I enabled it) but always link back to me.

The shading on this is a bit overdone on the two characters. It looks like you were going for a lighting effect that you were not able to see in you mind. With a full moon the lighting is very strong, you easily could have picked the light shading on the backsides of the characters and had a great impact with the contrast of light and dark.
I say this cause the skin has the same texture as the clothing with the way you added the texture lines.

Seriously? People want to ink work like this? You're not supposed to ink shit like this. It's too tight. You level it up and smooth out the rough blacks. Inks wouldn't bring anything to the work. At best they'd fuck it up something nasty. It's redundant. Now color I could understand, though if a piece works in black and white, and has this much texture and craftsmanship I think color is just as insulting as inks.
On that note, I think the piece is complete and whole as it is and a fine example of Why-the-hell-don't-I-you-do-covers-? Atleast. The industry needs more identity.

It's a compliment, delivered in my special way. Which asswipes? There's a lot of those in the comic industry. Just other day I made good use of an old House of M issue.

A House of M issue used as asswipes? that's something. I was talking more of metaphorical though (which of course you knew). Good comics paper today are hard and sharp. They won't be comfortable so i'll stick with my Scott.

Haha, well I was issuing my opinion of the 'big comic event' comics. I don't think very highly of the gratuitous maxi-series that Marvel and DC feel compelled to churn out with mechanical efficiency. To me it devalues their stand alone properties and ruins the integrity of their story telling. So, in that vein, I don't think very highly of Marvel/DC at the moment either. Their small stuff is their best stuff. I even bought my first Top Cow comic recently. Took them this long to publish anything that impressed me.

Love the details on this. Reminds me a bit of Lienil Yu's style and I do mean that in a positive way.

Leinil is a compatriot and yes, he's an inspiration especially the veinworks. But the hatching is totally Travis- inspired and some David Finch.

Oh yeah I've heard a lot of people saying Lienil's style was inspired by Travis's to some degree, but I'm not really familiar with the latter's work, except for the images I've googled up at one time.

I had a special double edition comic somewhere, Wolvarine vs Hulk. Someone careless enough lost it, and I never got it back, and I truly regret that.
This looks amazing, and the detailing is outstanding.. And it makes me think about that comic..
