A lot of people don't like using the grid. and it's to each his own. Personally I'm neutral on it, it's important to have a balance. But if you're going to do something, you might as well do it an easy way. So here's a tutorial on how I use the grid.

The grid method is a legitimate and traditional drawing method. Don't listen to criticism against it.
Anyone who feels a compulsion to commit an image into being is an artist. Any method to construct and achieve that image is a valid form of drawing.
