Description I haven't ben able to access dA for a couple of weeks now, but the problem's been fixed at last, so I'm back to finally update.

Here I wanted to a) try drawing Hermione Granger a bit differently, b) experiment with some different brushes, and c) move away from just headshots. I really want to push myself artistically this year; with all that in mind, I was pretty satisfied with this first painting.

Before I saw the covers with hermione on them, I thought she was black, and idk why, really.

Her description offers a lot of options that way! ( Sometimes I'm rather against having the character's portraits on the cover; it makes the experience of imagining them on your own a bit difficult. :') )

I will admit that after seeing this, I wish this was how Hermione looked. It's just so...perfect in so many ways. Your redesign captures her character so well while adding a new element to it.

This is probably the biggest cloud of hair I've ever seen on Hermione and I applaud you for this. Such a perfect portrayal of her!

Ahh this is so good. I just started to try out digital art and it looks terrible when I try to remove the outlines. May I ask how did you make them bend in so well with the whole picture?

Thank you! Instead of removing the lines, what I do is add a new layer above them, and paint over them. The lineart layer is still visible in the final picture, but painted over to be softer and less obvious. Here's a sort of walk-through of my process from a while ago that might explain a bit better? goo.gl/MZEieA Good luck! Let me know if I can help with anything.

This is so detailed! Thanks a lot!!! I will try it next time. And the "tutorial" is very helpful! I really appreciate your help.
