Leonardo “Leo” King was always something of a bully and braggart in college, always more concerned with his hair and bodybuilding than with his animal husbandry courses. He returned home to his parent’s farm a failure, and with his attitude, was soon kicked out of the farmhouse. He headed to the city and took a job cleaning out after the animals at the zoo.

One night, needing some money & knowing that an older lion was due to leave the zoo, Leo agreed to a plot to assist with smuggling a piece of radioactive material in its crate, and eventually out to the uncharted island of the mad scientist Dr. Marrow. The police arrived, attempting to put an end to the poaching heist. However, in the ensuing gunfight, Leo had no recourse but to hide in the container with the radioactive material and the lion itself.

Oddly the lion did not attack Leo, but roared and instead attacked the police, being fatally shot in the process! Sadly, the lion died in Leo’s arms, and with a mournful roar of his own, Leo caused nearly every animal in the zoo to spontaneously go berserk, even the earthworms and insects went on the attack. The police were caught in the ensuing swarm and a few sinkholes, let alone now dealing with loose animals. Leo went on to make good his escape and began his criminal career as MANE.

Powers: As the ‘king of beasts”, he possesses a powerful Roar, allowing him to control all animals within a 200-300 yard radius, and utilize their senses. Has enhanced human strength and claws, oh, and a great head of hair
