My great-grandfather died inside a plane in the 1920s, shot down by the Moroccan rebels he was fighting. His plane's fuel tank got hit, and the whole plane subsequently went ablaze.
This art made me think of him not only because of the reference to sky accidents (I believe you intended this to focus more on lost civil planes, but for me it fits too for warplanes), but also since the yellowish place the plane is taking off to made me think of an inferno, hidden behind the clouds...
