Really beautiful and harmonious.
I would say this (and the other birds as well) is in the style of your ancestors. Classical Chinese composition.

Is this a young one? In the uk our gold-finches have red marking and get them as they get older, I don't know if it is the same where you are. I love the composition of this photo the way my eyes are drawn to the warm colours of the bird against the snow.
My parents have these in their garden - always a delight to see.

The one you linked is a European goldfinch. Since Renant lives in the States, it makes sense that he would be referring to an American goldfinch .

There are multiple species of Goldfinch, and they all look quite different actually! This one looks like a female Lesser Goldfinch to me.

Perhaps you are thinking of European goldfinches. Since Renant lives in the States, this is an American goldfinch .
