Wonderful!  Excellent, especially for a first tutorial.

Portraits can be very hard - I suspect that working from reference photos is the best way for beginners.  Also, though I know some artists who do excellent work with a mouse, I'm sure that a tablet is a lot friendlier.

When I painted a self portrait, I had a terrible time with color.  I was working indoors by artificial light, on an outdoor scene, and the light threw everything off - I was appearing much too yellow and much too dark.  Somehow I realized what was happening, hit on the right color, and suddenly looked much better!

I also tend to have trouble with eyes.  In another portrait, the eyes kept looking wrong, until I gave up and drew a simple curve for the eyelid.  The result was relatively cartoony, but it finally looked good.
