I had a lot of fun with this one not really using anything I normally do (blend/multiply/soft brushes), pretty good challenge. Not sure I could replicate it though! I'm still hoping to fill in a few gaps between baby Yeti’s arrival (About 1 in 1000 ) and this, his first Futurity event when time slows down for a minute, but deadlines do exist.
- Event Specific Story -
Despite trying to expose Yeti to as many different experiences as possible, there was just something so entirely new about the atmosphere here that it had both of them jumping at small noises and snorting. Well, Yeti did the snorting, Fiona just felt like her face had frozen. After the fifth failed attempt at braiding the unruly mane in front of her with even more unruly fingers, she eventually gave up, combing through Yeti’s mane with trembling hands. She let her fingers curl tightly into the strands, leaning her face into his (already) damp neck, and breathed deeply, trying to exhale as many jitters as possible. The young stallion stood blessedly still for a few heartbeats, matching a breath or two, before ruining the peace by echoing the squeal of another youngster and trying his best to show off his fanciest square-dancing moves.
“Keep you hat on, nutty.” Fiona murmured, checking her watch; it was finally time to start heading towards the beach. Yeti was much happier to be moving, although she could have done without the giraffe-neck, jigging and snorting at every leaf. He was enjoying himself though, she could feel it. Unlike his handler, Yeti seemed to enjoy the electricity of the show ground, and despite the swivelling ears and arched neck, his mouth was soft and he kept his attention on Fiona. Well, most of it. He was only two after all.
They only had one small tantrum on the lead u;, the line where the path met the beach proper was obviously the best place for trolls to hide, and it took some cajoling to convince him that the sand here was exactly the same as the sand at home, numpty. With a surprise leap that nearly pulled Fi off her feet and had her blushing crimson, they finally made it to the edge of the shore.
Luckily, if there was one part of this whole event that Fiona could bank on, it was Yetis’ enjoyment of water. Getting him to stay upright and not roll in the surf would be her biggest challenge. But showing off in this glorious setting, with the rising sun edging him in gold, and picking out the fire in his coat? Not a problem.
