What a great monotone piece!Β Spike's spines really draw in our focus so that we see our two sleeping friends and how peaceful they are.
Love the texture and shading!Β Seriously, just look at the strands inΒ Twilight's wings, the toughness inΒ Spike's scales, and the soft fur on Twilight's face.Β And then there's the background.Β Excellent use of your light source!Β It looks as though these two are sleeping on a midnight cloud, conjured from pure magic and comfort, sending them both into a sleep filled with ease and freedom as they float off into a seaΒ of violet.

Oh, yes! I was Captivated by the warm fuzziness! 83 Makes me jealous of spike. Criticism is meant to be the simulated public response. I hope I'm filling that bill. Apparently I offended another artist without meaning to. I just wanted to help. But I did end up pointing out NUMEROUS weak links in that masterpiece-in-progress <3. I made certain to end with heartfelt compliments, but, to my uncomfortable surprise, it didn't have the effect I expected. This fellow DA member said it was a "slap in the face". I guess I should approach more delicately in the future. Lesson learned. Well, I guess she was critiquing my critique lol.

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental
hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the
staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so
they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the
machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on
a Monday night at 12:00 a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you
and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and
she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if you copy and paste
this to ten comments in the next ten minutes you will have the best day of your life tomorrow.You

1. I saw that stupid warning on EVERY. OTHER. PAGE (I am not exaggerating!) on this site.
2. Seeing it so much confused me, so I came to the conclusion that it was some sort of fad on deviantART. I re-posted it not for popularity, but because I have REALLY BAD luck. No kidding. For instance, the warning said that if I re-posted it I would have the best day of my life tomorrow. I had just the opposite, for reasons other than all this.
3. I am really and truly sorry and I will not post it again.

Simply wonderful.
I love the interplay between their tones, and the soft sense of her "mothering" him by wrapping him in the folds of her wings. One might ask what they are resting upon, but it doesn't truly matter, the swirls simply work to draw the reader deeper into the piece.
In all, a wonderful image of a princess and the one creature who has always been at her side. The gentle sense of closeness and tenderness comes through very successfully.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't like Spike, as he's my favorite character, largely because of the vulnerability on his character, and his undefinable relationship to Twilight, both of which you managed to work into this piece.

I'm glad the message came through here, and you're right - it is hard to identify just what it is they're resting on - I did so because the background would detract from Twi and Spike if it were anything else but something soft, I think. Originally the intent was to have it be a cloud, but I'm not sure how well it translated in the end.
I'm not sure why Spike doesn't appeal to me, for whatever reason. I can't seem to figure it out! Don't worry, it's nothing personal, haha! I just can't seem to like him as much as some other characters. But thanks for putting that aside for a moment, rather than screeching that SPIKE IS BEST PONE - I really appreciate the maturity with which you commented! C:
