I used his DKC sprites as a reference & palette.his anatomy doesn't make a lot of sense in the first game so I kind of altered his design to my taste

Thanks! I have done some before, but they weren't really anything special. Most of what I learned about pixelling was way back when I was editing PokΓ©mon sprites, hehe!

Just good ol' MSpaint, and Photoshop for the transparency.
He always did... except in the TV show and more recent games.

Let me tell you as a Pixel Artist dithering is not good to mix with smooth shading. His belly has completely different shading from his green skin and that is generally frowned upon in the pixel community. The nails and teeth don't have an outline but the rest of him does. It comes off jarring. I don't want to sound mean instead I want you to improve.
Don't look at this crappy old avatar. It's old and I need to get rid of it.

Nah, I think that's just dA, not you. A lot of people here don't WANT criticism, even constructive criticism, so I think most people don't bother to mention things they think could be improved, unless the artist specifically asks for it. And of course, another problem is I think people use dA to keep up with so many artists that it can be hard to give thoughtful comments to every single one.
...Other times people just don't know any better, themselves. Like I was gonna say "WHOA Renee this looks awesome," and I still think it does; I wouldn't have seen any of the issues that koopaul has because I don't know crap about spriting.
