Sometimes. I only have a few on hand that I record into a sketchbook for future reference (mostly for hair and shoes though) and just for the sake of practice. I don't really use the fancier stuff for my current characters but the drawings are there if I ever need them. I try to mix and match clothing I like but most of the time I also use google to fill in the gaps when I can't find what I'm looking for. I also have artbooks of fashion from different decades like the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. but I haven't looked into those in a while.
There have also been the occasions where I've seen people in real life wearing clothing that I absolutely found cute or interesting during commutes, so I try to record them (usually as a really crappy sketch of the shapes or a brief description of what they were wearing so I can look it up later). That's how I came up with Ari's hoodie vest/long sleeve combo :3

Ah wow, that's so cool! I think I should try & think clothing when it comes to my characters as well. It might seem shallow, but fashion can be Β very important in designing characters & giving people a feel for what there like as characters(i.e moody people normally wear dark clothing, whereas happy people normally wear brighter clothing). There's a really good tumblr post actually about how fashion can be used to help develop characters, but I can't really find it at the moment.

And I'd have to agree. It says a lot about who a person is, and also what kind of background he/she comes from. Even the manner of how those clothes are worn is a nice subtle hint at a character's personality as well.

I knew you'd say that. I won't do it right away though. I'll probably do a few more pictures of them as they are just so people get a feel for the characters, then I'd probably draw them in modern clothes.Β
