This is eye-catching, Dick. It's a mix of nature and metal oxidation. Well done

Over the last couple of years, I have developed an excitement when I come
upon roots, exposed tree roots, usually the ground eroded away by running, rushing
water. Sometimes, like in the Simian example, I get lucky and the Photoshop
blending, flopping and dodge and burn tools give me a striking result. I really went
into this one, recolored some of it, and it had a skin/primate-like look to it. This one
gave me a very odd sort of eye glasses too. 90% of the attempts are just....not cool.
THANKS So much....I'm glad you noticed it. The roots were found around Gooseberry
Falls, about 50 miles about Duluth, on Lake Superior. A geologist's paradise!!!
Photographers can get into it too...

Well then, you certainly have your priorities
straight. You would truly enjoy Gooseberry!! And
the entire North Shore of Superior.

I have a terracotta greenman on my wall in the garden...I love his leafy head...your root man would make a lovely 3D figure carved in wood!!

richardcgreen In reply to TriciaS [2013-08-07 19:03:46 +0000 UTC]
I've never known the word "greenman"...
But I understand terracotta, not to mention Green! One deviant thought it WAS a sculpture...

The Greenman is in cultures from all over the world ...Mythical of course!D...He has leaves sprouting out from any orifice on his face...He represents plant life...and growth.....He is found as a gargoyle type face on our ancient buildings and churches.......There you are then...Get sculpting your root man

Now THAT's exciting. I've been painting and watching chickadees and finches visit my homemade feeder. And still, I'm rather bored. The third month without the school bus is rather wearing on me...

I just miss doing something productive, needed.
I miss the idea of belonging to a group ~ the other drivers.
Having a purpose...(notice I haven't said getting a paycheck,
and there's a reason...yes it's nice, but it's not the only
reason to work). And then I start worrying about HAVING
to stop working. I'm not alone here, Trish. Don't worry.
I'm doing the best I can to accept and acknowledge the
feelings. It just gets more pronounced in August.
Thanks for chatting...

but it wears glasses! it's an academical tree... dr.dr. arbor vitae

richardcgreen In reply to FabioKeiner [2013-08-02 14:01:43 +0000 UTC]
THAT was shear chance. But, hypothetically, if we were
derived from trees...like, aren't trees smarter than simians?
OR maybe just more nearsighted...or worse, blind! Appreciate
your comments Fabio...as always!!

THANKS Gloria...the same images came to me also,
like a woodland elf. Believe me it makes sense: The image is
derived from 'forest material'...by Gooseberry Falls on the
North Shore of Lake Superior. Appreciate your comments!

because most folks just wait for my watercolors.
THANKS so much...
