Ah, wedded bliss.

The client had a strong general idea of how they wanted the piece designed. Crystal in front, with Ronan above and behind her. They also provided some great reference.

I used this as a chance to play with a lot of things. There's a strong, top-left to bottom-right composition, which is that natural way we in the West read, which helps create a good visual flow. This is reinforced by their heads, Ronan's arm, and both his and Crystal's leg. Also, one might note that I used the same pose for both characters with minor alterations, and mirrored - a nod to their wedded status. Hopefully I altered and tweaked the poses enough that it doesn't just look like I'm being lazy.

I continue to experiment with different ways to draw hair, and remain unsatisfied. Also, instead of just making Ronan "above and behind" Crystal I decided to make him ginormous. That was fun.

The color theory here is really a no-brainer. The color palette for the two characters are natural compliments to one another (blue>orange and green>red). Which again works great with the whole wedding/marriage thing, but I can't take credit for that. I did push the yellow in Crystal's costume to a more golden color and away from a straight yellow and added some reddish browns in the shadows of it to help emphasize this a bit, also adjusting her hair to the red a tad bit more than to the brown. But really, as with the poses, that's just tweaking.
