Description Basic Fullscreen Preloader

Description
A basic fullscreen preloader with slide effect. Can easely be extended to fullscreen a website.

Try the ONLINE DEMO
(if you change the window size you can see the nice slide effect!)

Instructions: - Read these first! Very important!

1:
Add all your images that you want to use in your website in the dummy layer in frame 2!

2:
You can change the color, width, length etc of the preloader. Go to the frist frame, and check the actions in actions layer.

3:
Create your "main movie" in the main movieclip. The main movieclip is the one that "slides".

4:
The "background" movieclip is scaling in the background. You can edit it as much as you want. Try different colors maybe tweens etc.

5:
Dont mess with the actionscript if you can't handle it.

6:
Have fun and hope this would help you with your fullscreen flash project

Me neither. O_o I'm using Macromedia Flash 8, and it's because they don't support that font, it's not in the list of fonts my program has: probably the same reason yours won't show up.

Wow, this is really nice. It looks awesome and is incredibly versatile. Good Job.

I just have one question. When you download the .fla file, on the side of the stage there is a dynamic text box with no instance name or variable applied to it, yet when I remove it loaded percent disappears on the bar. I've looked over the code but I couldn't find anything. Does it load the font or something as it also increases the file size (a very small amount).

richardddd In reply to aznFanBoy [2009-02-03 19:50:32 +0000 UTC]

the textbox is there so that the % text could be displayed You shouldn't remove it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aznFanBoy In reply to richardddd [2009-02-06 21:16:26 +0000 UTC]

Why would it need it though? Doesn't 'createTextField' make the text box for the percent?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

richardddd In reply to aznFanBoy [2009-03-03 13:05:51 +0000 UTC]

yeah, but the other one is the one containing all the embedded characters. You cant embed characters if you dynamically create a textfield at runtime, as i do. thats what its for

Hey,
First of all, great work! so simple but still so cool

But how do I use this if I already have finished my movie? because if I've understood your instructions right, I need to build my movie into the "main" clip?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

richardddd In reply to daymien-48 [2008-10-05 10:03:35 +0000 UTC]

thats right!

Because it's the "main" clip that slides. So you need to add all the elements your existing movie into that clip. Let me know if you still have any problems.

richardddd In reply to AwesomeYay [2008-09-26 15:55:57 +0000 UTC]

the font is included in the zip file so don't worry about it

first of all i want to say that the preloader is wonderful and useful. but i have one question does the preloader only loads that which is on the dummy layer?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

richardddd In reply to smonti [2008-08-30 15:45:04 +0000 UTC]

it loads everything (every layer) after the first frame. Place your "movie" in the "main" movie clip to get the sliding effect for it let me know if you still don't get it. Ps. there are some instructions in the deviant description. have fun!

Works great! Though, I'm curious. If I change the dimensions, does the load bar change position, too? If not, how can I move it? (I'm decent at ActionScript, but not the best. I'm entirely self taught, so there's definitely stuff I've missed). Anyway, I'd love to get this project done ASAP, and I love the looks of your preloader. All the rest suck...

richardddd In reply to burroughs688 [2008-06-02 12:59:13 +0000 UTC]

The load bar is always centered, no mater what size the movie is in! Try resizing the window and see the effect Thats the thing with it!
