Description
Sixth of the series with Emma Alexa and Emily MarilynTheme & styling: Emma Alex and Me
Models: Emily Marilyn & Emma Alexa
Make-up & hair: Soo-Jung Park
Latex: Emma Alexa
Photo & processing: Me. And I have to say, this is the most ambitious composition I've ever done. I wanted it to be firmly in the same world as the other shots, just in the city that you can see across the water. So I had to put the water in, and the wasteland beyond, build/adapt a city and colour it just so. Even the edge of the roof was built from scratch! Phew.
Lighting info: Profoto ProHead on a Pro-8a, shooting into a 6x4 gridded softbox camera left and in front of models. Second ProHead in a 4x3 gridded softbox and slightly behind the models, camera right. Fan on floor to move the hair in that "I'm on top of a skyscraper about to swoop down on someone" kind of a way

Really nice selection there! Just for curiosity, how much time did you put in that image? Keep the good work!

Thank you! And probably about 10 hours for the first one of the set... a bit less for the subsequent images

That's very dramatic. Great use of a backdrop, not too difficult to add shadows to this one

This could be the picture for which I've been waiting my entire life. I have one small complaint, though .... (stop reading now, if you don't want to know what it is) .... Emma and her outfit match the background a little too well. Or maybe the background is too sharp.
In spite of my sniggling complaint, you did an awesome job on every aspect of this image. Do you ever offer your work in print format?

PS I think you can get prints from dA - if you're interested I can arrange that...

I'm honoured - thank you so much
There's a new shot which has the same background with Emily on it. I blurred the background a little more... see if you think that helps and if so I'll do the same to this one.
Constructive input is ALWAYS welcome

Yes, I think that helped a lot. It's always difficult to put one's finger on these things, but the 2nd image is definitely easier on my eyes. 3D compositing is one area where I have some experience. My eyes catch little things, like misplaced or misshaped shadows, incorrect DOF, unnatural variances in lighting, etc. That stuff jumps out at me like a coffee stain on a white table cloth.
Once I get through 2011, I'll let you know if I can afford a print of Emily on the roof. I definitely want it, but the end of the year is when I have to pay property taxes and insurance premiums.
