Very good composition Richard,
post treatment is perfect (what tool did tou use to compress and expand different tones?)
Great work, bravo

Thank you Denis - I used Nikon's Capture NX2 in fact, but essentially it's bringing down the contrast to compress, then using mask layers (basically luminance masks) to expand the highlights and shadows. A little bit of gaussian blur and high pass used as overlays too, to spread the highlights a little without losing detail.

do you have this with no editing? it looks abit as if its been through some sort of HDR rendering

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardKnightly In reply to sevenths [2010-03-25 19:53:41 +0000 UTC]

Hi sevenths,

It's not HDR, but I have applied some processing to the background and to Emma. Essentially I've compressed the midtones and expanded the highlights & shadows a little, to give it a slightly painterly look. It's a style, for sure But I've tried not to make it over the top (as some HDR images can be).

Thanks for the view, sevenths! If I get some time I'll do one that's unprocessed so you can see which you prefer
