he's healing well, out of the cast now and into an orthopedic boot - but on crutches till the end of august.
speaking of heat - N. lives on the 23rd floor outside of D.C., last week the heat down there set off a fire alarm on the floor above him, the elevators shut down and an evacuate notice came over the building intercom. but he did NOT try doing down 23 floors on crutches, thank goodness. nothing was on fire, just too hot.
and that was last week, today the motherlode of heat arrives. keep as cool as you can, my friend!

a boot sounds better. but still sounds yucky. and glad it was just the heat and he didn't actually need to run down all those flights!

doesn't sound like much fun for you either - i know it wouldn't be for me to see the kid in pain. i don't even like to see the cowboy with a bad cough! (and i assume that feeling doesn't change no matter how old the son gets.]

you are so right, that feeling never changes - oh, the phone call immediately after the injury! but as the parent you have to be calm and cool - "yup, that sounds like your tendon tore in two all right, but it's going to be okay, you're going to get yourself to the hospital, they'll know just what to do"
i'm really fortunate as the homemaker/artist, i was free to spend a week with N. while his wife was on a business trip, just a few days after the surgery. he didn't need much done for him but he needed someone there all day - what a sense of purpose that gives a dad, doesn't matter that the son is an adult.
a good day to you and the cowboy and the mrs. too, stay as cool as possible. we don't have air-conditioning here at casa wig, i'm thinking it's a good weekend for a movie matinee

It really does look like a wrench. It's very plain and junky looking - but I like it anyway! The alphabet series has to be made of found pieces - as opposed to just cutting letters out of stuff - and I found these on my desk and there was the F. It had to be done.

Yes, the imperative. I am liking works with feelings of tension these days, which is why I am drawn to this so strongly, I suspect.
