This one fills me with that special feeling that your work always does, but I am gonna ponder it and come back to you and how I interpret these words later.

That is how my memory works, too. How many words do you think we speak in our lifetime? How many do we actually remember?

Sufferin' succotash, the slippery bugles of memory! They'll slip away if you let them. Hold on to the good ones at least.

Try to hold them and play a note when you need it - got to keep your embouchure in shape.

I suspect it is my proximity to downtown NY, and my having passed the site last week, and having another 9/11 anniversary, but I am hearing a lonely bugle.

RichardLeach In reply to LauraTringaliHolmes [2010-09-12 15:54:31 +0000 UTC]

I didn't have that in mind but it's one of those meaningful coincidences.

LauraTringaliHolmes In reply to RichardLeach [2010-09-12 18:54:09 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is, although from what I understand it is kind of a geographical tri-state emotional swamp. A neighbor who recently moved to the Carolinas reports that it's a much different head there on 9/11.

RichardLeach In reply to LauraTringaliHolmes [2010-09-12 19:42:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that makes sense.
I don't think this is the place to get into it, but this thing the American right wing is doing lately - protesting the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque" and that idiot pastor threatening to burn Korans - is just about driving me out of my mind. Some Democrats have even caved in to it. This is not the country I want us to be.

The NYC papers report that public opinion is not against the mosque. Most of the agitation comes from the outsiders. Same as it ever was.
